Spring Cutting
 

would anyone want to help me with cutting my springs on my coils...

i know all the negatives that come with cutting springs but i honestly dont care about that haha

i just dont have any tools.

There is a correct way of doin it. I think bottom to top. U lookin to spend money cuz my friends shop can ptolly do it

Hes not cutting stock springs i believe, hes cutting his coilovers springs so he can go lower..Nothing wrong with that IMO.

just remember to cut the spring in the middle...in two places...then rotate it clockwise 2.5 times and let sit over night

You clearly know nothing about spring rates and how a spring sits.

My exact thoughts. Just because people use coilovers to slam cars, doesn't mean they don't come with certain spring rates.

just take off your wheels find a saw (any kind will work) and cut in the middle of the spring than rotate it till its a double spring it will give you twice the spring rate and a great stance.

Ugh, your car is going to ride like poop. I hope all you use it for is hard parking.

If you cut the spring in the correct position you'll be fine, it'll ride fine get over it fools.

Just throwing this out there, but HyperCoil sells springs of various lengths and spring rates. It might be a better option than bouncing off your bump stops all the time with the cut springs.. Not sure how much you're wanting to cut. You can order a higher spring rate on a shorter spring.

I have some bolt cutters in the van, a jack, and impact gun. Stop by whenever with a 6pack and we can knock this out.

well im looking at it this way. the coilover spring rate is already NOT for my car...

rides like dick...ok. fine. man up. ive had a honda and ive had a go kart. both didnt bother me none.


and i got **** on in the speed game so its gotta be done but you DID inspire my buddy with the cobalt next to you. i think with your help i got through to him and he went for it haha.

Haha, well said hombre, I drive mine everyday, and yeah it rides like dick, but I don't care and if you don't it's really the only way if they don't make parts to make your car low do it yourself

if hes cutting coil over springs its even worse because the springs on coils have flat spots where they sit on the coil if you cut them you eliminate that flat spot. just get new springs.
