I hope to be able to come up and watch some of this hillclimb.

I was up there a couple months ago with my younger son/navigator and we blasted ..errr I mean carefully drove up the hill a few times so I can see how challenging the course is. It's a pretty damn tight course if you ask me, and could only get more hairy at high speeds.

what are the requierments to participate?

jcr557 06-23-2010 03:26 PM

how do i do about getting the SCCA Time Trial License?

HILLHO 06-23-2010 03:48 PM

More info to drive/participate check out <pahillclimb.org>. For the most part in SCCA Time Trials, you'll need rollbar/cage (depending on mods/class), fire suit/Nomex, extinquisher or system, SFI helmut (fire proof, not motorcycle), 5-point harness.
I run in Street Mod, actually Super Street Mod (SSM) because it's a 2 seater.
It is a street legal car, and isn't trailered like most of the competition. I believe in "run what ya' brung"...total GrassRoots!
*sorry, I'm new and can't create links yet...

Do you have an address for getting there? How is spectating?

HILLHO 06-23-2010 05:55 PM

I'm sorry, but I cannot yet post a link...so...try this:
Just Mapquest...PAGODA SKYLINE INC
Just go to the Pagoda (just look for it on Mt Penn above Reading), and listen!
Spectating is allowed all along the orange fence...around Turn 1,2,3 (easiest to access), and 6,7,8...area known as "Oh-SH1T". Drive to or hike.

Cool, thanks. :)

Here's that crazy NASCAR V8 powered Blazer going up this hillclimb...notice how tight the course is and limited room for error http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMhnt...eature=related

awesome, I've been wanting to make it out to spectate at one of these ever since I first heard about them. Not gonna be able to make this one though. :(

If I ever win the lottery my STi will be converted into a street legal hill climb race car.

spectating is really fun at these... an awesome variety of really cool and interesting cars in the pits as well as racing up the course. you can walk up to different turns to watch the race. theres also usually good grilled and homemade food for sale down at the start line. i have photos from the last one but i havent posted them yet, woops.
