I saw the lot last year when we were racing over at LCCC....it looked pretty amazing!

So what car is everyone going to be running this season? What are your plans/goals for the season?

I picked up a 1994 miata in November as a new winter project and I think I'm going to run it this year. Unfortunately I didn't realize the torsen rear really limits you in your choice of classes....so I think I'll just run in whatever class I end up in.

I drove my silver WRX last year but without a 2.5 the 18g isn't very much fun in autoX. I spend to much time worrying about keeping the turbo spooled and less about my lines / form. I think the miata will make me a better driver...hopefully.

Always wanted to try this, maybe I'll give it a go this year if I get bored with going straight. And to the member from Easton, there should be chapters in lehigh valley, reading/berks, and jersey that might have events closer to you

Local non SCCA autoX's are held once a month in Bartonsville. It's a good way to get some practice before making your way out to a sanctioned event. If you're interested shoot me a PM and I'll give you the info.

thanks man, ill have to keep that in mind. right now i just need to figure out if my car is going to be my work vehicle or not, it depends if i get this new job or not. if it is i really don't want to do too much with it unless i have to and just save up for a second car

You are going to love the Miata compared to the Suby. I know so many people that started Auto-xing and then went out and bought a Miata. I have owned 4 so far.

4?? Holy crap! I can see why....it's a really fun car for the money.

I ended up picking up my 1994 with a hardtop, hard dog roll bar, big front swaybar, stainless steel brake lines, jackson racing headers / catback, lightweight flywheel, KYB AGX's, and OE BBS's for $2500 off a TST member. Loving it so far.

Over the winter I got bored and deleted the AC completely, removed the driver side airbag (installed a 350mm Nardi), and installed beefy flying miata sway bar mounts. Unfortunately I realize this stuff probably completely screws me class wise but right now I'm more concerned with learning how to drive rather then winning trophies.

sadly, I don't think I'll be running this year...

maybe I'll sneak out for 1 or 2 events but no feasible way for me to run a full season.

perhaps next year.

Meng 03-04-2012 12:14 AM

hope to at least see you at the Brodarts.

Yea, the Only thing that would screw you is the lightweight flywheel. Without that you could run STS with some good street tires. But with the flywheel it puts you into CSP (Big Money Class).

I know Philly has street tire classes, so you can run ST CSP.

Simmons

Streetracer1227 03-04-2012 07:52 PM

They don't need to know it's a lightweight flywheel

Meng 03-04-2012 11:55 PM

So you are saying you would cheat to win?

I was under the impression that the Torsen bumps you from STS to STR? I'll have to go through the rule book. If that's the case maybe it's worth ditching the flywheel eventually....

For now I'll just work on learning how to drive haha

I'm not really worried about winning so this is a moot point. I'll have the same amount of fun running in STR as I would in STS. While in STR if I get to the point where my times are close to the top guys in STS I'll go back and remove my flywheel so I can join the class. I think I've got a lot of driving to do before I come anywhere near any of those guys.

Tinkles 03-05-2012 09:40 AM

I dont think the cav is going to be ready for Brodart.
