I want to do some mods to my Colt 6721 Carbine
Looking to keep the upper and lower black FDE stock FDE grip FDE mags FDE handguard (free float) low profile gas block Some kind of scope mount and scope Looking at the Nikon P-223 3-9x40 with the BDC600 reticle for $150, or the Nikon P223-3x32 "carbine". Shooting for now at a max of 200 meters, which scope would be better for me? |
Well the rifle is done. Got a Geissele SSA-E trigger but was not installed for this target. 10 shots all on the 8" target shooting from a rifle rest with my friend's handloads using Hornady soft points (which I dont care for because they get boogered up and I'm sure it changes how they fly)
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...psqofkwtjs.jpg Here's the rifle http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...pswaafudbp.jpg Anyone here play with Kalashnikov rifles? I have an old WASR 10-63 that I am putting a nice new Magpul Zhukov stock set on. While the front is all apart we're going to make sure the gas tube and the front sight post are aligned correctly, since I think I am a bit canted on the front post. I am not expecting AR like accuracy from it, especially with the cheap wolf crap I shoot with it, but hits on a torso sized target out to 200/300 yards would be nice to attain and the rifle should be capable. I will do groups at 50 and 100 yards and see if it's worth investing in an optic for it, or if it's not worthy of going past 100 accurately. Any experiences? Optic mounts? Scopes? I'm considering the UltiMAK rail and a Primary Arms 2MOA red dot to co-witness with the front iron post and the rear Tech-Sight I have. |
Looks good!

Went out again on a non windy day, same friend's hand loaded rounds (he just started doing 223 recently), this time at 100 yards, same bench rest.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...psjtf1anxb.jpg That's a 1.25" group :) Now the Wolf Gold 223 55gr didn't do bad either considering I paid $300 shipped for a case of 1,000. Managed to score 5/5 hits on a 5" plate at the 200 yard line. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...psuqawzvev.jpg Put the AK back to stock (wood furniture, stock sight) and did a few shots at 100 (not seeing all that well with this). Still, pleasantly surprised. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...pso0evznik.jpg |
Crappy pics but I just picked up a MPX. It'll be suppressed and SBR'd sometime.

^Very nice!

Picked this up about a week ago from Relic Hunter in Whitehall. Can't wait to get home from Ireland and run some rounds through it.

it felt very cheapy in the gun store |
I haven't been able to shoot it yet. Out of the box the receivers are tight(no unwanted movement) and enough weight that I feel confident that it is a quality item but still decently light. I've had a Bushmaster Carbon-15 and a Sig P250, so I would say that I know what a cheap gun feels like and the MPX is no where near it. I am very happy with the quality and workmanship that is in it. I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't like the quality. But it is my 1st "sub-machine" gun and I can see that shooting it as a pistol can be awkward because I am used to shouldering guns that size or larger. I am not a fan of spray and pray. But a SBR stamp will fix that. With the SBR and can I would expect it to be similar in size to the .300blk AR. My biggest grip with it is that the "aftermarket" support isn't there yet. I know what stock I want, but since it is not currently being produced the few I have found on eBay and Gunbroker are asking $600+ for a $250 stock. I haven't been able to find different barrels or handguards yet for it.

Anyone pick up new toys lately? Recently I bought a Benelli SBE 3 and a Sig P365 XL.

That's too bad... it would drive me nuts having a brand new gun sitting around but not being able to shoot it.
I picked up a Benelli M4 about two months ago and have been able to hit the range a few times, fortunately. |

Oh wow... that's a lot! All I have to deal with is work and whether or not I want to ride my motorcycle that night haha
