it all depends on the unit, the point was made early on that i knew what i was doing and rifles modified by me consistantly outperformed their stock army counterparts, so our co gave us an open hand for mods as long as we could put them back to stock at the end. the only thing i didnt undo was the barrel reset as i *slightly broke the rules there and made permanant changes to the star ring to achieve the clearance i wanted. the army uses the aimpoint red dot for its optic, i consider this inferior to the eotech, doubly so when you consider that the rifle was to operate in a third world country and button batterys would be impossible to find. when other guys could no longer use their sights i was still going strong cause my 552 takes AAs. and those were taken in the sniper shack and cp respectfully

Right right. Yeah, the M68 sight isn't best but uncle sam loves the lowest bidder. We had ACOGs on order but that was struck down in country. We had to beg just to get Pitt rails for our M4s. In the chair force, if something isnt for the planes, pilots or wrenchtuner who work on planes, then its not getting any funding.
We shared space with the 101st ABN in Kirkuk, they had some crazy modded M1As and SAWs. Not sure how your guard unit was but the 101st looked like they went to Graterford SCI and recruited prisoners.

Anyone else up for Classic tomorrow?

ITSTOCK 08-10-2007 02:51 PM

(obviously me)

Anyway, I just passed on a killer deal to my brother for a brand new Sig 556. I'm an idiot, why I told him and did the work for him I have no clue (he's been looking for one for the past year under msrp, and since the new version came out he REALLY wanted one)! Damn it, I should have just kept my mouth shut and kept it to myself. :(:(

There are mixed opinions on it, lots of people say exactly what it could be, JUNK. The quality of the actual gun in a couple of different aspects is really just sub-par, while in other area's it exceeds most AR's. It's just one of those "must have" items.. It's nothing like the REAL 55x, and I do mean NOTHING. If it were, they would be selling like hot cakes.

Here's a rough comparison of the 556 and XCR (along with the LWRC). I think he gave a couple of tips to the LWRC that probably shouldn't have been, but they were his opinion (such as ergonomics, the XCR is WAY more ergonomically correct than the LWRC and 556 IMO, my rails have had all kinds of optics on them and never been marred, so that is interested, he left the gas port setting on 4 for the function part, mine is down to 2 and it's LOTS less than the gas piston ar uppers (my brother has the ZM lr300, comparable to the LWRC) and way less than the 556 on the 1 setting, plus it's silencer/SBR friendly with setting 1, total of 4 settings)...and on to looks, he put magpul stocks on the others as well as an HK mag on the Sig and Pmag on the LWRC, so of course they look better, because the XCR is plain and 100% stock (unlike the other two).

But anyway, it's still interesting reading with good info.

What are you talking about "that" bad???? The FS2000 is a cool gun, but when it comes to accuracy, I hope you don't plan on it being better?????? In every which way (other than looks) they ALL outperform those dirty AR's AND even more so, the FS2000. Just curious, but did you read it?

goodfella732 08-11-2007 03:44 PM

No pun intended but today was a blast. Steve(ITSTOCK) thanks again for letting me use the 26 and the ARs and sharing your knowlage. Since NJ won't allow me to own an AR guess Ill stick with the XD9. Solid feel and felt real good firing it. We need to get a TST Classic meet going.

ITSTOCK 08-11-2007 05:13 PM

No problem! I think that shooting fun guns are something everyone should experience, at least once (I just wish mine had the fun switch!). I got my favorite gun back today (I got called on the way home from CP), so I'll be there again Mon/Tues night to test it out. Add me missing the gun, and me being bored, and you all get to look at pictures I just got done taking...

a neat story I think you guys will like

ITSTOCK 08-11-2007 09:46 PM

The guy Dan in picture 9 or 10 (something like that) is owner of www.pafoa.com.

And just for a heads up, the guy that sold my brother the first Sig 556 has a second for the same price ($1275 shipped, no tax, that's it, just pay for the transfer which is $30). It's literally brand new, never fired, and MSRP on them is $1499+tax+whatever other fee's the store will charge. They are marking them up though, so $1275 is a badass deal! It's the new version that comes with irons and a sig tac holo sight. I think I'm going to try and build an AR-10 or remmy 700, otherwise I'd pick it up. I've got a week to decide before he puts it up for sale and asks more, so like I said, if anyones interested, let me know.

goodfella732 08-13-2007 08:11 PM

Yea so, I went to look at shotguns today. Figured while I wait for my permit Id see what kind of goodies are out there. Priced out a Mossberg 500 series for 300. I just want one for a nice HD gun. So I put a deposit on it. While I was I got to talking guns with the guy and he started showing me handguns they had. Sooooooooooooooo, I now I have a deposit on a 92FS also. So my collection is already at a XD9, 92FS for the 9mm and a Mossberg 500 12ga. All of which are sitting at the stores til my paperwork comes in. I love how I go price shopping and ended up spending 1000 bucks. lol. Come to find out AR-15s are NJ legal as long as they have the 15rd mag. They had a nice one there by Colt for 1200. After shooting ITSTOCKs I think that might be the next purchase.

The guy there also said I should look in the Cx4 Storm from Beretta. Its a 9mm carbine that accepts the 92 series mags. He said its one of the most accurate he has shot.

Not bad for 800

goodfella732 08-17-2007 08:04 PM

Anyone know of a place to buy 9mm in bulk for a decent price? Im looking for cases since buys boxes of 50 seem to go way to quick.

We have a huge box of those plastic M16 magazines sitting in our office. I hate them with a passion, they jam and misfeed constantly. We only use them for classroom training now.

I have a 92FS in the brushed steel finish. Nice gun but too large for conceal carry. A good range shooter and 9mm ball is cheap. We use them for duty carry so I got it as my first gun.

goodfella732 08-17-2007 10:13 PM

Yet another question for everyone. lol. Anyone know what is need to purchase a gun out of state. If I were to find something cheaper in say PA, would they accept my NJ FID card and permit?
