Philly Region Autocross/Solo 7/14/12-7/15/12

This weekend, SCCA Philly region will hold an autocross/solo event.

Saturday at Warminster Community Park where the 2012 TST Spring meet was held.
Sunday at Wells Fargo Center.
8am-?

$35 per day for members, $65 for both days.
$45 per day for non members, $75 for both days.

Number of applicants is limited to 180, but there are plenty of spots left. Come out. This will be my first autocross event so I am in the Novice Group and my car is in the C-street prepared class since I have some minor mods like Eibach Springs and Intake.

Pre-register on motorsportsreg.com

Ugh. Now I'm torn. Tannersville is having a very small local one this weekend too.

You would rather go to the same small Corvette event instead of coming to Philly? I am going to build to Very Fun and Challenging courses this weekend. Don't miss it!!!!!!!!

Ugh. I have plans with the family Saturday and no babysitter Sunday.

The Stickman 07-10-2012 10:46 PM

Is the event Saturday at Warminster Community Park at the airport?

psushoe 07-10-2012 11:10 PM

It's on what's left of a runway at Warminster Park.

This was a fun event. Probably not going to part 2 on Sunday because my car sux in rain.
I was so unprepared. People came in with trailers, tools+equipment, spare R or A compound tires and wheels.

What class did you run in? I wouldn't worry about car prep too much, especially at a regional event. As far as the rain goes, that's a great opportunity to get a feel for driving on the edge and recovering once you push too far. The only real downside is chasing cones in the rain, but that could be relatively pleasant if you have rain gear and waterproof shoes.

I was in Novice group.
C-Street Prepared because I had lowering springs.

I had plenty of instances today where the car went sideways and I recovered, except for my last run, where I slid into some cones after I lost control. My traction control is barely invasive and I don't have Stability control to help me so it is pretty easy to slide even in the dry. I hear mid+rear engine cars are very hard to control once they lose grip.

I got down there to late, mainly because I couldn't find the correct entrance to the park and event. The guy at registration would have let me register but said there wasn't enough time for me to walk the course. So I figured no sense in going out on course and getting lost. A DNF never helped anyone. Maybe next time.

I also had trouble finding the right entrance. My GPS took me into the playground area. Had to drive 3 miles around to get to the right entrance. I only had time to walk the course once.

Very nice. You were much faster than me. What class were you in? Did you have race tires or engine modifications? I ran 54.11 as my fastest time in Heat 1. C-Street Prepared. I did not count as C-stock because I had Modified (Eibach) Springs. My last run I finished in 55 seconds despite the fact that I slid off course at the 3rd to last cone. I probably would have gotten 52 seconds if I didn't lose control.
