Went to the Leesport Gun Show today. Was followed home by a suspicious looking character.

I made it up the mountains again to shoot a couple guns, finally got around to the FN SCAR (500 rounds), the STI Lawman (300 rounds), and the Bushmaster BA50 (50 rounds), plus a bunch of other guns I brought up. I also had fun with a friends FNAR and Benelli M2. I think I want an M2 now.

I am absolutely stunned at how accurate the BA50 is (super sniper 20x). It's mind boggling, definitely a SUB MOA rifle as I was shooting rounds inside rounds at 100 yards. The recoil isn't all that bad either, and sound directly behind is not loud.

We did end up taking down a nice size tree too. That's with 700 grain AP, I'm sure with non AP the tree would be down faster. The first couple rounds went clean through the tree, and clean through a second tree, before disappearing in to a muddy mess hole. After the first couple, ginormous chunks were blowing out the back side of the tree. This was at 100 yards, close, but fun.

Here is a crappy video of me shooting it, but it's a ####ing blast!!!

The STI Lawman is incredibly comfortable and accurate. I'm a convert to the 1911 platform, and the Lawman made that happen. The FN SCAR is a nice rifle, very little recoil (about the same as my RA XCR), decent trigger for what it is, and just a fun gun to shoot. But the finish/anodizing on the upper is ####. There are already all kinds of dings in it. Also, the ejection port looks like chunks are coming out of it. It is what it is, but it's not comforting.

My friends FNAR was lots of fun to shoot as well, very accurate, but was having feeding issues. We went through a couple hundred rounds of .308 for that one. The M2 had a couple hundred 3" shells through it, mixed buck and slug. It was fun. The trigger pull is incredibly short, so blasting through 5 rounds is just downright evil.

Mossberg 590 Persuader Parkerized

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ossberg590.jpg

Went back to the gun show today with Eddie Bling & Jay to pick up some accessories and ammo. First got myself (2) 22 round mags for my GSG-5 .22lr bringing me to 4 total. Also picked up a rail and red/green dot scope for it. Nothing major just a cheap little red/green dot with 2x magnification for more plinking fun.

Then I went and picked up a Tac Light/Laser combo with quick connects for my Glock 19 & GSG-5. Again nothing special just a cheap little accessory for the hell of it.

Then as I was walking around with Eddie & Jay I decided to stop by a table I had stopped at yesterday just to handle a new pistol and see how I liked it. I liked it but didn't really want to spend the money since I just bought my Mossberg 590 yesterday. So I left and went to have lunch. About halfway through my Five Guys burger I decided to say screw it you only live once and then returned to purchase the pistol.

Ashame to see Taurus in there, worst junk money can buy IMO

the mike 01-03-2010 08:14 PM

The Taurus 1911 is a solid gun. Don't let the majority of their line sway your opinion. (I wouldn't mind getting a Judge revolver)

OutToWinPAHC 01-03-2010 09:08 PM

I own a Taurus. pure garbage. The 1911 is just a copy of something great, but no the less Miami made crap.

Munky 01-03-2010 09:32 PM

 That Taurus "crap" as you refer to it has had 1000 rounds through it of every type of ammo out there with only 2 issues and both of those were user errors when I first got it. Don't believe everything you hear online. Now as for other Taurus models...I wouldn't buy one if you paid me. Except the Judge.

the mike 01-03-2010 10:41 PM

The 24/7 gets decent reviews from most gun mags/sites.

Munky 01-03-2010 10:44 PM

I've shot it. I don't like the trigger on it.

the mike 01-04-2010 01:21 AM

Yeah, but that's an opinion, not a reflection of the quality of the gun. I don't care for SF Glocks, but you can't knock the reliability.

OutToWinPAHC 01-04-2010 08:42 AM

I got a Taurus pocket piece. Jams 1 of every 25 rounds. The sites are also welded on crooked, and the slide cracked on but the fixed that under warranty. I picked up a Keltec 9mm to replace it.

JDM215 01-04-2010 10:54 AM

I considered getting a 24/7 before I decided on going with the SW9VE. Many people knock the Smith and Wesson because its very plain and for the most part $100 cheaper or more then most guns. I've had probably 1000-1200 rounds through it with no problems. My buddy has the 24/7 and only had one problem with it in about the same amount of rounds as me.

Also just picked up a remington 597 so I could do some shooting on the cheap. Anyone else shoot a .22 regularly

I shoot my GSG-5 almost weekly. Nothing like putting a few hundred rounds through it and not feeling the strain in my wallet. Dunno how often I'm going to shoot it now that the local indoor range might get shut down.

Yeah that sucks man. That's basically why I got my rifle. Figured I could shoot a few hundred rounds for less then 10 bucks.

Had the M82 out today for a cleaning and put a Houge grip on and ended up with my M82 BCG sitting next to one of my ARs BCG.... I laughed

Christ you have so many guns^^ haha So after tossing around the gun idea, im going for it. Ive decided my first should be a 9mm hand gun. I really like the simplicity of the Glock 17. Everything ive read, give it great reviews and says how reliable it is. I also like that there is not a "real" safety on the glock. I plan on using the gun for the range, and home protection. Dont plan on concealing, otherwise ide look for a smaller handgun like the Glock 19. Are their any other .9mm's I should look into? Glock is a name everybody knows, so maybe someone can throw something else at me to look into. i also like a few from http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz.aspx. though I havent held any as of yet. Just like the looks and a lot of the specs.

1988 Olds 01-18-2010 11:41 PM

Motorvated - I like the Glock 17 alot, but the price was a little more then I wanted to spend for a gun. I search for a while before ending up purchasing a Smith and Wesson 9VE. Brand new it was $350. Has a stainless steel slide and barrel and is pretty simple gun as well. The only thing people don't like about it is the strong trigger pull. Smith & Wesson will lessen it for free but I choose not to as I carry alot and don't want to shoot my foot off.

If money wasn't a concern I'd go for a Springfield XD-9 or XD-9m.

If you'd like to try my gun out I have a membership to Pistol People in Bensalem so anyone who wants to come with me only pays $8/hr. 9mm bullets cost about $10 for 50 so its not that bad either. Good luck and if you have any more ?s feel free to PM me.
