already signed up :supz:

mazda6guy 02-02-2006 11:57 AM

I was at the last event on the 28 of January and the weather was so nice. I plan on actually running the RX-7 on the 18th in the novice class since this will be my first attempt at autocrossing. Hope to meet you guys at this event.

Twin_Cam 02-02-2006 12:45 PM

I'll be there, co-driving a certain teal Civic in the above avatar

The weather better be nice...

BlackBulletTSi 02-02-2006 01:05 PM

I would like to be there would be fun. Just my suspension is horrible once I fix that then I'll autocross.

olmytsi 02-03-2006 08:28 PM

How far is this place from philly?

US_R33 02-03-2006 11:54 PM

little more than an hour

HuffRex 02-04-2006 02:38 AM

I might be there as well. If I do come I will participate in my first Auto-X event!

mazda6guy 02-06-2006 03:28 PM

Hey I signed up today so hopefully I can meet you guys at this event. I will be in a brown RX-7 running over the cones. I also might have a dazed and confused look on my face. lol

US_R33 02-06-2006 04:48 PM

glad to hear more people are signing up

please don't hesitate to come on over and say hi to me

Late,
Daniel

TROLL 02-06-2006 04:49 PM

i'll see if i have my suspension sorted out by then... its in need of a few changes before i race this year. i'm definitely planning to be at the march event in warminster, and if i'm lucky i'll be able to make it to this one as well.
bryan

US_R33 02-06-2006 04:59 PM

you better be out to the one lol

as long as the suspension isn't going to fall off the car you should race it :-p

mazda6guy 02-07-2006 09:04 AM

Yeah my thoughts exactly. The suspension on the RX-7 is not to my liking but I am still going to run it and work on it throughout the season. Plus I need to learn the car and sitting on the sideline is not an option this year unless my car break down on me.

96s14 02-07-2006 11:59 AM

i would love to come out and make an ASS out of myself with my newfound power!

BlackBulletTSi 02-07-2006 12:42 PM

I'd love to do this and a bunch of these kind of events this year. I'm gonna try to make this one but I also in need of a new suspension which might be done end of the month not sure. Still picking out what I want.

joe tom 02-07-2006 01:23 PM

i want in, i just gotta see if i can get out of work...

is everyone going down together?

silver05bullet 02-07-2006 02:10 PM

Im going to signed up in the novice category as well, should be fun

CarbonIS 02-07-2006 06:15 PM

maybe i'll head out, i'm actually heading out to ripken stadium tomorrow being as
i work for ripken baseball :) i'll have to get some sway bars and strut tower
braces before i enter tho...

i'm not rolling down with anyone, my girl and i will be leaving from her place so we'll just meet you guys down there

US_R33 02-07-2006 11:46 PM

as for the guys who "need" their suspension parts on the car...

i'm not sure why people seem to think that they aren't going to have any fun at an autox event if their suspension doesn't have all the parts on it that they want, you'll learn A LOT more by autoxing BEFORE you start to mod your suspension. if you already have some suspension mods autoxing prior to installing new mods will truly show you how much of a difference those new parts really make (when tested on a closed course)

just come out anyway, everybody sucks when they first start out, having more suspension mods will just amplify how badly the driver sucks  (b/c the car becomes less forgiving)

Late,
Daniel

good choice

be sure to come over and say hi when you get there

don't forget you have to be there earlier than during the summer session

CarbonIS 02-08-2006 08:59 PM

i dont know much about this at all, could someone knowledgeable about it
(US_R33) or anyone else give me a run down of what goes on, what i'm
supposed to do, what class i'd be in, etc.

mazda6guy 02-08-2006 09:14 PM

I can supply you with a link www.phillyscca.com. Click on the word SOLO to get some info about Solo II. (Autocross) I am a newbie too so I am just going to be like Nike and "Just do it!" I know that I am going to suck really bad. Practice makes you better.

US_R33 02-09-2006 01:54 AM

basically, you get there by 8am, come find me, and we can run through the morning routine so you know what's going on

here's the jist of it though

8am- arrive and empty the car of everything that's not bolted down (empty door pockets, take out floor mats, etc.) if you haven't done so before you get there
then you go get your car teched
then walk the course

9am- tech inspection closes
go through the novice walk through (even veterans go through the walk through at times)

9:30- driver's meeting

10am- first car rolls off the line

if you're not a member bring $35 for registration and if you can register online in advance, don't worry about class, they'll sort you out once you pay at the event

Late,
Daniel

US_R33 02-09-2006 01:56 AM

yeah yeah i know its early and its a saturday but trust me, once you get out of the house and you're on your way down, the excitement will wake you up rather quickly

and when you do get there w/o a doubt you'll be glad you dragged your ass outta bed early on a saturday

92dxman 02-09-2006 01:34 PM

I agree with the worth getting my ass out early on a Saturday morning. If you are lost or confused with anything at all, almost anybody there would be more than happy to help you out and point you in the right direction. Also, you can look for anyone who is wearing a yellow philly scca jacket. Autocross guys are overall really nice and helpful people. They are all one big friendly group of car nuts.

joe tom 02-09-2006 03:48 PM

i registered for both feb 18th and march 18th events, and requested off for both days, i hope to get off for the feb event, it may be too short notice, but i'll definitely be at the march event. what happens if there is snow on the ground? or if it rains?

mazda6guy 02-09-2006 06:23 PM

The show still goes on. I remember last February when it snowed and they was still out there running heats. There was one guy that totaled his EVO because he had slid into a couple of porta potties.

92dxman 02-09-2006 11:55 PM

The lot down in Ripken will not be plowed except if there is a foot or more of snow on the ground. Pictures of that evo spread like wildfires the next day. I wasn't there for this but ive heard that a Corvette ZR-1 went through the fence and into the reservoir at Englishtown.

I was there at that event, and he did not total his Evo. Looks like a cracked intercooler, and a cracked ssr wheel. Front facia was damaged too but definitely not wrecked. As for the person in the porta john, I believe they only came out with some scratches.

I'll also say the Evo should not have been aloud to run. Racing R-compound slicks on slush and snow = teh stupid.

240sxDann 02-10-2006 01:01 AM

hey just curious, does this cost anything? How much? And are there any age restrictions? I'd like to give auto-x a try. Even though I'll be in a darn near stock car, it would still be fun.

Twin_Cam 02-10-2006 01:05 AM

Yea that Evo guy was a toolbag too. He was like douche central. I've also seen a Corvette hit a trailer at South Jersey before, and a WRX hit the fence between the lot and resevoir at Englishtown, but never a car go into the water.

As long as you don't drive like an asshat, there's very little chance of anything happening to your car. You can take a look at the two "SnoCross" videos on my website (Media page). It's actually an amazing amount of fun.

EDIT to answer above question:
It costs $35, $25 if you're an SCCA member. You need to have a license to run. It's loads of fun. Com'on down.

92dxman 02-10-2006 01:07 AM

I think you have to be 18 to partake. The cost is 25 for Scca members and 35 for non members.

240sxDann 02-10-2006 01:10 AM

well, the $35 I could do, however I'm only 17. :( Think anyone could check that for me? (the age requirement, that is)

jspek 02-10-2006 01:44 AM

if its your 1st time just let them know theyll make hte price 25 bucks. thats how much it was for me last time i did it.

so should i just leave my snow tires on until the last minute? i think autoxing in the snow would be sweet!

US_R33 02-10-2006 09:58 AM

you MUST be 18 or older to participate. they will not make any exceptions. you will only be permitted to run if you are under 18 if you have a permission slip signed by BOTH parents

as far as i know you also need to be 18 or older in order to be a passenger, again, unless you have a permission slip signed by both parents

if you have any questions email them to re@phillyscca.com

Late,
Daniel

silver05bullet 02-10-2006 10:18 AM

so u can have a passenger in the car while doing the autox

cravej 02-10-2006 11:23 AM

If you are under 18, you need to have this Minor Waiver signed by both parents. It needs to either be notarized, or signed in the presence of an SCCA Member.
http://www.scca.org/_Filelibrary/Fil...leaseform2.pdf

And autocrossing in the snow is a blast.
