Starting to redo my identity as a designer

Instead of "Josh Story Design" freelance, I've been kicking the idea around to make my own little 1-man side business that could grow possibly into something big as i get more clients (i have the resources to do so and i've done plenty of research). I'd like to look more professional and change up a lot of stuff. (branding and pricing etc...) Here's the name i came up with and 2 different tag lines. Anyone want to help out with a 3rd tagline? I'm kind of stuck.

This is what i decided on as the name of my would be business and the logo....

Smart to take on the whole green movement as part of your identity.

Third tag should be: "Rock out with your identity out". Sike, that sounds gay.

TROLL 02-08-2010 08:02 PM

i like the left side of it, the right doesnt even look like a part of the design though. i say better integration...

11secdsm 02-08-2010 08:23 PM

I agree w/ Bryan. The right side is just there...definitely doesn't look like it's part of the the whole. Great job overall though.

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 08:29 PM

Thanks guys, i'm working on it. I'm getting used to the tag: "Throw your identity out there" because i'm in turn helping people get their business started or keeping it going...

I like the one that says "Throw your identity into the world" better. Sounds more professional and corporate-ish to me. idk

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 08:39 PM

Might be as simple as changing the color to the color on the left....I dunno

The Captain 02-08-2010 08:47 PM

yeah, that might help. Dont like those bright colors too much.

I like the simplicity of "throw your identity out there." Seems to flow much better than the other.

BUT, i think the other is more professional and explains itself better.

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 08:53 PM

I think i got it. It's an olive green actually but photobucket makes it look neon damnit.

11secdsm 02-08-2010 08:54 PM

I agree...that looks better already.

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 09:04 PM

I like it, i think i'm good with it....i just have to redo my contract forms and business card. then try to get a price guide.

c0nfl1kt 02-08-2010 09:08 PM

stiguy, maybe I am just getting anal here, but I was reading the "out into the world" part again and went into my websters and am going to suggest changing that to "onto". idk, its YOUR business I'm just trying to be helpful.

EDIT: never mind that, it would sound weird.

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 09:54 PM

lol thanks man......Here's my card redesigned. PS: guys (and girls) please don't call me lol. I trust you all not be leave me voice mails on the ****ter or something.

Hey, protip: get a gmail address. Every time I get an application at work or my sups get apps with yahoo or aol email addresses I laugh at them. Gmail is just a lot more professional short of having your own domain. Hope that helps.

OverBoostedEvo 02-08-2010 09:58 PM

you should look into picking up a cheap .com and then getting your email to be Josh @ recycledgraphics it will look more professional then having a yahoo. you could even look into a mail forwarding service that will forward mail to your yahoo but give u a more professional email address

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 09:58 PM

Never knew that.... i didn't create that yahoo account yet but it would of been that. Thanks.

Well, if you buy an address you still need to rent server space to get that email hosted somewhere. It might not even be worth it JUST for email IMO. I have quite a few websites and it comes to a good $2,XXX/ month for hosting on a shared Linux server and that is CHEAP.

djb5118 02-08-2010 10:05 PM

I think the "out into the world" is too long. its much easier to say "throw your identity out there".

c0nfl1kt 02-08-2010 10:23 PM

Hey,

If you are interested I have some server space on a server I stopped using 2 years ago but still pay for. If you buy the domain I could get you hooked up on this server and could work out a deal or something. LMK

What if I register the domain name? It wouldn't be much. I think an expensive one is $10 a year.

STiGuy06 02-08-2010 10:51 PM

That's pretty darn cheap. I still have to design and code the site. And i suck at coding. It's not my thing, i'm obviously more print, but i'm trying to teach myself web design.

I can help you there. I got a degree at Web Development before Comcast. It's completely up to you. Think of some domains and draw up some layouts and we can go from there. If that's something you wouldn't be interested then that's cool, too. You can PM if you want.

I do print work. Pretty much anything from shirts to bumper stickers to logos . I'm teaching myself web design but it's going to take a while since i don't know that much about it. I have a bachelors in Print design from Kutztown Uni. Been doing it for 3 years, 7 if you count school.
