Aftermarket seatbelts

Can the seatbelt chime that goes off when your seatbelt isn't engaged be disabled?

I am getting one Bride seat for the driver's side and a Takata harness, but I don't want to hear that chime all of the time.

abrok99 02-01-2010 12:11 PM

if you look on an evo specific website im sure they have a DIY thread about it. i know nasioc does, but idk about the EVO forums.

Xclusive_Russ 02-01-2010 01:31 PM

Requires some modding of the mechanism but it is possible.

D Money 02-01-2010 01:35 PM

only one? I thought you were building a jdm whore car, not a race car. lol

What bride seat did you get?

CarbonIS 02-01-2010 01:38 PM

i think he should buy my brides personally. And i'm sure you could cut/disconnect the wiring that attaches to the seatbelt latch.

Fujito 02-01-2010 01:41 PM

*getting*

Only buying 1 because it's like $1800 for each seat. Red Stradia or Gias with gradation and Andromeda Maziora backing.

Got Insulin? 02-01-2010 01:44 PM

Actually, Cravenspeed makes a component for MINIs called Chimex that looks like the end of a stock seatbelt and just plugs into the receptackle. A guy I know from another forum was able to send them the male connector of his seatbelt for his Scion, and they made him the same part for a couple bucks more than the normal Chimex product. Check 'em out, Jesse: Cravenspeed.com.

Thanks for the info Taylor. I'll give them a call. I could just cut my seatbelt off and plug it in  but I don't think that'd be the best thing to do. I wonder if I can buy the male connector from Mitsubishi?

I wouldn't doubt it. However, I'm pretty sure your car has to retain all of it's origional safety equipment, including the seatbelts to pass inspection in every state. You might want to see if the previous generations connector is the same, that way you could just call a "later years" junk yard and go cut the connector yourself.

There is no red brides w/gradiation. It's called "hyper red" like carbonis's seats.

Now here is some info for you. Bride mazioras whether they be gias or stradias, ONLY come in solid colors. If you want gradiation pads or any hyper color, you need to buy the pads seperate and they're $450 each seat! How do I know this?

Because I have bride stradia mazioras and I wanted gradiation pads so I bought them seperate. Each seat retails for $2000 + $250 per rail/slider + $450 per set of pads so yeah it adds up. It's a good thing im sponsored by Bride/tee's usa.

Oh and get ready to wait for those seats. You may luck out since red is a color they were trying to get rid of fast, but I paid for mine in full last March and they finally came in last week.

Fujito 02-01-2010 02:36 PM

lol a year wait?

I got quoted from my distributor around $1800 per seat without rails.

And what do you drive D Money? If you're sponsored it must be pretty legit.

I said retail.

If you get one maziora, it will look dumb. Save your money and buy both of carbonis's stradias. They're hyper red with kevlar backs.

You must be new in the game.

Fujito 02-01-2010 02:46 PM

I am new. I'm 20 years old and I've had my Evo for 7 months now.

SHOW ME YOUR RIDE!

CarbonIS 02-01-2010 02:47 PM

SHOW ME YOUR RIDE!

You're doing it big for 20! I commented on your thread numerous times because I like your style and you are into the same stuff I am. Jdm, rare, one off pieces that everyone can drool over.

Here was my car when I was 20. I'm 23 now....

It's much different now. You can peep my build thread if you like.

Vr-4-Life 02-01-2010 02:55 PM

I was hoping to see some top secret pictures in there :(

Fujito 02-01-2010 02:56 PM

Ahh nice. Hopefully I won't still be spending money on this car by the time I'm 23 .

What I find interesting is that while there are a lot of Evo's at the car meets and what not (and barely any STi's), the STi's on this site blow all of the Evo's away in terms of modifying and "show status".

I new my calling from day 1--represent the Evo community well

Carbonis and I will be out reppin the subies well. All in due time my friend.

I had the low bolster ones, so it was like a stock evo seat basically. Now I got stradias which are tight, I would have never fit before. At 200lbs im the limit for these probably, they're built for lil asian boys.

I just read through this whole thread and this line was soo funny I had to re-quote it haha.

And I can vouch for the elantra being super fresh, however the few times Ive seen it in the "colder" weather the white ricer wheels have been pretty dirty!!!

"Show Status"- I hope your not referring to that Laguna Seca Blue STi that showed up the one night! lol. If it wasnt for the cold weather and snow/salt on the roads I would be dd'ing the STi. When the spring rolls around the gas guzzling Denali is getting parked and ill be in the STi everyday.

K1tt3n5 03-07-2010 03:09 PM

Go to a junkyard pick up a seatbelt from a mitsu cut off all of the belts plug it in or tuck it away. Theres a relay I think it is that can be unplugged to turn it off, check out evom.

jjm4life 03-08-2010 01:54 AM

terrible idea to get rid of your stock seat belts. have you ever driven a car on the street wearing a race harness? its really unsafe. keep your 3pt belt to pass safety/emissions check, and to DD. harness for show/track use only.

but, as mentioned by everyone, you should be able to get the male connector of the seat belt and just plug it in and go.
