My friends in the E36 M3 and E30 325is did very well today. They ran 9.765 @ 154 and 10.9 @ 134 respectively.

Are chutes required for under 10 second cars?
That e30 is GORGEOUS. Given the look of the rest of the car though, I really wish it didn't have that drag wing on it. Seems like he could drop his times significantly with some more positive rear camber (yeah, I said it). |
Chutes are required over 150 mph. This was a rental so the chute wasn't pulled today. The E30 is tubbed -I've posted pics before of that. The drank wing goes on that trunk lid, owner has two trunk lids, so its not permanent at all. E30s get real squirrely above 140 mph especially with slicks. The camber is actually positive under neutral, that was the hardest the car was launched today. Wheel slip is non existent even at that camber setup.

that e36 is a sleeeeper, aside from the chute of course... thats pretty nuts.
and is the e30 running at full tilt? thats obviously fast so i dont want to take anything away from it, i just know how badass that setup is so i guess i have high expectations. |

Holy camber gain on the e30! Sick bimmers. The evolution GT500 is pertty neat to

Hey, you have any specs on the e30 suspension and traction set up?

Good dam, how much did that set him back and did he have a shop do it or did he do it himself?
|
Cost wasnt too bad, we do all of our own work on both his car and mine
|
Alright, does he want to do side work? Because I know traction is going to be a big issue with my e30 and looking for ways to make it work down the road.
|
I know Jay's car which is pictured above and of course Jon's as well... and the work on both of them is top-friggin-notch. Not sure if they are trying to get into anything else or not, but if you're trying to get serious with it and are lucky enough to have them assist, you will absolutely not be disappointed with the results.
|
I just looked at the build pictures and the quality was top notch from what I could see and stuffing something that wasnt even supposed to be made remotely for car a like this in there is amazing and has given me a lot of ideas.
|
154mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats way fast. whats the specs on that car?
|
WOW Crazy ass cars.
|
friggin ridiculous rides...soo nasty...and love the gt500 as well..was that by chance Evo performance's?

If you go on E30 Tech its fully documented there you can see what has to be done. Though, you can fit a decent tire in there without doing too much work. Quote:

Sounds good I understand because that project looks like a lot of work and very well done. I'm going to check on e30 tech and see what is involved because after I get my motor in there I don't think I'm going to really catch traction with 700hp.
|
What motor are you putting in?
|
4.6 modular motor bored and stroked to a 5.1l with a kennebell big bore 2.6l blower with a built auto with trans brake. I need to find some way to have the rear end hold up to the power levels I wanna put to it and was thinking a of a custom rear subframe with a cobra 8.8 in it. I need advice on this lol

But be careful.. a turbo 400 will NOT fit. C4 or similar is necessary. That or a very big cut out hole. Dude join up over on new-sweden.com we do the exact **** you're talking about and are local |
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to buy a performance automatics C4 or AOD competion trans to support 1000hp and with a trans brake. I'm going to be running slicks at the track and going to make sure everything in that rear end is solid before I take it out on the road. 700hp is on the block in my member journal and after I get more money I'm going with a dart or similar short block. I'm going to make sure everything is built to the hilt lol. I'm going to join the forums because I'm in for the long haul with this project because I want to see what this car can do. I'm getting a custom driveshaft made for the car and a full cage will be in the car. When I get to that point of dealing with the rear after I get the motor in ill be asking for more advise lol
