Does anyone know whats a good tires to get?

fballman1987 07-27-2009 04:27 PM

r/t:-23 you redlighted that run?

what type of turbo setup are you running? how many lbs and what other mods?

nice run, but even with street tires it just seems like it could be faster.

I redlighted a lil. I'm a noob at the track.I have a Vortech Supercharger and running 10psi. I made 401.8whp, it should be faster. But my tire are f***ed. I gotta get that 60' down to under 2.

fballman1987 07-27-2009 04:48 PM

the 60 ft isnt horrible for street tires, whats the mph at the 1.8th and the 1000?

CleanNeon98 07-27-2009 05:14 PM

I thought you were making 500??

TurboTagTeam 07-27-2009 05:17 PM

That trap is way low for a car with that power/weight

:iagree:

my formula makes at most 320 to the wheels. and weighs about the same. my car traps 108.

something seems wrong.

i have a set of nitto 555r drag radials for sale. 250, almost new. 275/40/17

pinacup7 07-27-2009 07:10 PM

haha 109 trap with 400whp???? Something is wrong here

soknavytim 07-27-2009 07:26 PM

it means u suck!!! lol

TalonTsi97 07-27-2009 09:58 PM

Reaction time doesn't mean anything at a test and tune. Next time you go take your take and try to get a good launch. Your 60' time isn't bad at all for a 1st time driver at the track so hopefully after another trip and a little more seat time that will improve as well.

So you get 100 horsepower of drivetrain loss?

BoostedG 07-27-2009 10:14 PM

Heres my dyno paper and my time slips. The dyno paper is a before and after boost.

My car weights over 3500lbs

CleanNeon98 07-27-2009 10:18 PM

I'm not doubting what you ran or the power you made, I just don't imagine 100 horsepower of drivetrain loss.

And I thought the CTS-V was quicker lol

DsmRob 07-27-2009 10:19 PM

My car weighs 3170 w/ in it and I trapped 86 mph in the 1/8 and 107 mph in the 1/4. At 400hp you should be trapping much higher speeds.

Yea it was hes 1st time at the track too. he also has street tires with I/E. And its an 05, they come with a LS6 400hp. The new ones are crazy they got like 540hp.

Why? 20% drivetrain is perfectly reasonable.

500*.8 = 400.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm guessing it my tires, or justs being a noob at the track. But my tire are like dead. oh and also it was hot as hell too.

Meh...my car stock is 178bhp, 155whp...not that much loss, just seemed weird to me.

The Captain 07-27-2009 10:32 PM

every car is different. mine is 190bhp, 150-160whp.

TalonTsi97 07-27-2009 10:43 PM

I'm going to hold final judgment until after you hit the track again. Hot day, "bad" tires, 1st timer can all attribute to the times you ran. Get a set of tires and head back to atco the next time a bunch of us decide to go. Can't expect to run amazing times every time you go especially the first time.

soknavytim 07-27-2009 11:44 PM

my car compare to "BoostedG"
ITS FIVE MILLION TIMES!!!!!......... slower...
lol
i outta whip his ass earlier!!!

peteyturbo 07-28-2009 02:21 AM

looks more like 30-40hp over stock.. even with crappy diving you should be in the 115range.. What dyno spat these numbers out and where? The 100% humidity dosent help unless it was atco since their weather station never works.

It went from 246 to 400, max hp.

BlinkerFluid 07-28-2009 02:47 AM

My G sucked at the track too, but I learned a valuable lesson about drag racing on 19" tires, don't bother.

I was easily doing 400' burnouts.

Get some dedicated wheels/tires if you want to do more drag racing, otherwise you'll never be satisfied nor run the times the car is capable of with the power it has.

I<3myS14 07-30-2009 02:06 PM

I saw your G against the CTSv...It sounded pretty nice. It was my first time at Atco and drag racing in general. Just to give you a comparison...

I'm in a 2800lb S14 with 375whp and I got a 12.88 at 114mph that same night

Your car is heavier by almost 700lbs but you got more horsepower than me. So with us being beginners, I think the times and the power/weight comparison are pretty close

2800 pounds/375 should be good for mid low 11s on a good tire.

3500 pounds and 400hp on a smaller set of good wheels should definatly get you into the low 12s mid teen mph. Is the car 5spd? How bad are you granny shifting lol. If its auto then just worry about the tires. Cut a 1.8 1.9 60 foot.

I have a 6spd and I shifted at 6,500rpm. My car redline at 6,700rpm. If I cut my 60 foot to under 2's I should be in 12's.

turbosmac02 07-30-2009 04:40 PM

yea you will get the hang...get sticky ass tires and hit it up again...

1. you never dynoed your car
2. every dyno reads differently
3. drive train loss on a g35 does not equal drive train loss on your gayata
4. your post in this thread is useless just like ....well.... hmm... most of your posts.

TalonTsi97 08-21-2009 04:26 PM

There was a STS rear mount turbo 350z at the track last night on street tires. First runs at the track for the guy and fastest he went was a 12.8 i believe with 60' worse then the original poster.

Oakes 08-21-2009 04:28 PM

There was a Dyno of a Z06 vette that has 505hp at the crank...put out JUST over 400 to the wheels, it's not outrageous.

Get some stickies on that thing, learn to launch it better and get it down the strip.

Prodigymb, I say you bring that E55 to my garage

evomike 08-21-2009 04:32 PM

Gearing could also attribute to 1/4 mile times as well. I don't think infiniti set out to set up the cars for drag racing.

The percentage of power lost is the same, its just that the more power you make, the more it seems like you losing more through drivetrain.

1000hp is typical 200hp lost
100hp is typical 20hp lost
