Karting @ NJMP

I'm organizing a karting extravaganza at NJMP, but need to get an idea of interest. I've attached a poll that will give me an idea of what I need to set things up for. I know times are tough and the economy sucks, people are trying to save money by cutting back...but this is going to be WELL worth it. Participation determines the length of the course we run.

I'm so down, but I think that mini grand prix sounds so much more fun. How fast are they?

from what I hear, they do about 65mph. I know they're fast enough to require more than just a helmet.

omgjacki 07-08-2009 01:13 PM

I'm down.

omgjacki 07-08-2009 01:13 PM

I chose 6 but it has to be a Sunday for me to be able to come.

Sincere 07-08-2009 01:40 PM

The 26th is the only one that works for me, Plus it the day before my Birthday so i'm sure it's a go. I choose option 2!

OK omgdanicaofthekartingworld, you need to have extra weight added to your kart to make things fair. lol

johnt2k7 07-08-2009 03:30 PM

i chose 6 but sunday would be better for me aswell and the 2nd is the OC car show so its a no good for me

Vypurr 07-08-2009 03:46 PM

I am totally in, but I would need to have it later in August. Even 1 week later would work!

R33E8 07-08-2009 03:59 PM

The brakes on those karts suck... But besides that it's kinda fun...

jcr557 07-08-2009 05:04 PM

the mini gran prix setup sucks. you do 10 laps and then wait for another group of people to go, then you go again and wait, then again and wait, etc. they should do it all at once. i tried setting up something before other than the gran prix but there was no interest. but for kicks i would do option 2.

bump.

Spocknasty 07-08-2009 09:45 PM

I'll try to make any date. I weigh like 8 pounds so I'll win unless Tim smashes into me.

s2ki had a meet here last month! i think we had 30 people come through, so there were 2 groups. it worked out perfectly since it was hot out, and the 15-20 minutes down time between runs lets you bs with your group.

40-45 mph is about what they do though. this plus no seatbelt = you better hunker down around turns cuz u'll feel it. I got royally fcuked the last run cuz I had my seat slid forward and the dude locked it in place, but right when the race started, my seat slid all the way back!!! I was running on my tippy toes and arms outstretched for 12 laps cuz i didnt wanna pit lmao i was so ****en sore on the ride home

overall it was hella fun.
we all did the one that's $80 bucks btw. i'd say it's worth it.

some karts are a bit faster than others. pick wisely lol

I'm interested but the dates are no good for me. LMK next time around.

rocco 07-20-2009 10:41 PM

if you guys do it let me know i work at njmp. i cant hook you guys up or anything but i guess it would be cool to watch you guys race and hang out for a bit. spend the $80 its way more track time

DPancoast 07-20-2009 11:17 PM

I have to sit this one out assuming that when selecting "date doesn't matter" would mean that its still either going to be the 26th or the 2nd. I am busy on both days. however, I REALLY want to get to something like this someday

vwcorradokid 07-21-2009 11:40 AM

I would really prefer to have a minimum or 13 people. This allows for a longer race and everyone gets more for their money. So if you know anyone that would like to participate, have them vote or make sure they are 100% positive that they want to be there.

russiankid 07-21-2009 12:46 PM

I selected option 3 as I have plans for this weekend, and I am also short on cash BUT I may have the money for a grand prix by August.

jcr557 07-21-2009 01:48 PM

i called last night to ask about an enduro race and here's the details they gave me.
they're gonna start having them on wednesdays at 5pm. its a 90 minute race. need 2 drivers. and its $200 per team.
