not bad. your shots seem to be a bit on the dark side though. were those taken with the 30D?

Yea..they still need a bit of editing work, and I've got more to process. Generally hate shooting at car events because there is so much **** in the way that it ruins the shots...cars, people, trees, other crap..I prefer shooting at an off-site location so much more

james_ls 11-17-2008 01:23 AM

Get your edit game on.

Look P+S status.

S4toSTI 11-17-2008 01:39 AM

Why post before you edit.

I did edit them...I'm looking for critique so I can edit them further based on that, like Matt said, they seem dark so I'll brighten them, etc.

Spocknasty 11-17-2008 01:47 AM

Here's a hint.

If you hit auto contrast, and the image changes dramatically....you have no idea how to edit.

Come on read your histograms, that's sloppy.

jspek 11-17-2008 02:35 AM

they are dark. the last pic drives me insane. i cant stand half'ed cars. its like putting a lambo on the grass to shoot it. grrrrrrr.

id like to see some shadow/highlight editing.

S4toSTI 11-17-2008 02:36 AM

Honestly i feel like they have composition but thats just me. Thats first and foremost worry about other stuff later.

YellowMSP 11-17-2008 09:10 AM

besides looking dark your white balance looks off in a lot of them, they look blue. did you set your custom white balance before shooting?

I did but I shot them in RAW+L so I can still change them a lot, just wanted to get some advice on what to do exactly because as James said, my editing game sucks

S4toSTI 11-17-2008 12:15 PM

Why would you shoot on raw+jpg????

So I wouldnt have to open up every single RAW file in PS to see what it was

S4toSTI 11-17-2008 12:28 PM

See they make this program called bridge or lightroom or aperature or anything that can view raw files without opening them in ps.

I don't think Mustangs are considered exotics, but unless thats a Shelby GT500, then its different. Nice pics btw.

a gt500 is not rare! a 2000 cobra R is exotic to a mustang! The saleens are pretty rare also!

Next thing you should buy is a hotshoe flash. Most of the shots are bland in color. Post processing can only do so much. Artificial lighting will allow you to expose the vehicle and add saturation while keeping the sky properly exposed.

YellowMSP 11-17-2008 07:43 PM

try this too if u don't have bridge or lightroom. i dont know what os you have but i use this on my windows xp whenever i shoot raw which is really rare, but it makes them show up as thumbnails raw thumbnail viewer

I agree to a point but also flashes can be used so wrong when they are mounted directly on the camera.

Spocknasty 11-17-2008 08:29 PM

He can't work the camera to begin with, throwing a flash into the mix wouldn't do him any good at the moment.

Next thing you should buy is some books on your camera and Photoshop to read while you poop!

It's so easy, a caveman can do it.

I didn't say it wasn't rare, I said it wasn't an exotic, but now that its a Saleen, its a different story.

Spocknasty 11-17-2008 09:30 PM

It raped a GTR on the highway!

i found it easy. it was harder trying to get the 800 to control the 600 lol. i actually had to read the book for that.

S4toSTI 11-18-2008 12:17 PM

I read the book for all my camera stuff.

Im actually wondering how to get rid of that...it was a hand-held exposure. Can I do sometihng like this?

Underexpose 1 raw file and use the sky from that in the proper edit?

YellowMSP 11-27-2008 04:31 AM

^^^u can do that if you wanted i guess. just load the underexposed pic in to the other pic on a new layer and uses masks to bring it through to show

and the edits look better but 4 still looks too blue to me

FLash + CPL (or graduated ND)

YellowMSP 11-27-2008 11:51 AM

i like rice is right, they will both help a lot. those shots i posted in the random picture thread of that truck yesterday used both the cpl plus a cokin graduated nd filter on top

cszakolczai 11-27-2008 01:35 PM

yeah they beat me to it but they said it all.

97TurboDSM 11-27-2008 01:57 PM
