Need some paintball advice...

Im looking into getting back in the paintball scene. Havent really been in it for like 2-3 years and Im sure alot of the guns have changed. Ill be looking to buy a decent Automatic marker that I can possibly upgrade down the line. Just looking for something good to start off with, maybe something I can get really cheap off ebay or some sorts.

So give some opinions!

97TurboDSM 09-16-2008 10:19 PM

get an autoc0cker. those are wicked with an E-Frame. They can be had for cheap and will hold their own with the big boys. I've always been a fan of Bob Long's guns as well. A lot of older high end markers will be super cheap by now.

Willdue 09-16-2008 10:38 PM

Yea, a AC was on the top of my list so far as I found alot CHEAP on the bay. Either that and go all out on a X7

Evo8kid 09-16-2008 10:40 PM

I have always used spyder gun with the e-trigger. idk why, but i love them

Willdue 09-16-2008 10:50 PM

I had an Spyder imagine. I hated that thing.

Willdue 09-16-2008 10:53 PM

Rebel 02 anygood?

97TurboDSM 09-16-2008 10:55 PM

who's that made by? link it up. i had a spyder, never liked them. they're super loud and annoying, break paint, have ****ty bolts, etc. E-Mag's are nasty too, i loved my minimag and that wasnt auto but still put out 15bps

Willdue 09-16-2008 10:57 PM

32 Degrees. Found it on the bay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Paintball-Gun-Re...QQcmdZViewItem

97TurboDSM 09-16-2008 11:02 PM

pfft, no. you'll prolly have to spend at least a couple hundred for a decent gun. let 32 degrees make paint pods and masks and clothing, not markers. go for a big name gun and do it once.

abrok99 09-16-2008 11:05 PM

E-mags<333 my bros friend had one i loved it and his brother also had a one of a kind bush long louis vitton gun so sick

i still go on pbnation every once in a while i love that place pballer's are so chill

Willdue 09-16-2008 11:09 PM

Im going to bed, leave some links to guns in the range no higher then 400$ :)

ZX88 09-17-2008 12:01 AM

i have a tipman a5 never gave me any problems its got a response trigger so you can shoot it automatice by playing with the trigger.

[sr20]sean 09-17-2008 01:03 AM

why do you want automatic? it takes the fun out of it

97TurboDSM 09-17-2008 02:22 AM

the hell it does. most full auto guns have burst modes too because in tournaments or any organized game, full auto is illegal. its really awesome to see a paintball gun go full auto

Keeper1343 09-17-2008 08:24 AM

dude.... if ur going for a great reliable gun that doesn't break the bank and can hang with the best of them... Just get a Tippmann 98 Custom with the response trigger. It is really durable and can get wet and get banged up without breaking. I have the same thing and it can do everything a high end gun can do except mine cost 300 total with all the upgrades. The others will cost you much more.

Stay away from spyders... known to break alot.

agreed....i have a tippman 98 custom too. they are fully customizable with many options. and they are very reliable and worth the money. no balls have ever jamed or broke in my gun...thank god!!!! stay away from spyders. balls love to jam in them. if you get a gun by september 28, there is a paintball tournament in lancaster, feel free to sign up. just PM me for details.

97TurboDSM 09-17-2008 08:51 AM

where in lancaster? is it at outlaw? i know the owner of outlaw

Willdue 09-17-2008 09:19 AM

Doubt ill have one by the 28TH. Will a 98 really be able to hold up with some of the big boys though? Cause I want to get a team started.

Im thinkin of finding either an Autococker or A5

Keeper1343 09-17-2008 09:36 AM

A-5's kinda suck because of the feeding system... The cyclone feed idea is a great idea but since its controlled by the air fired it jerks the ball way too hard into the chamber causing them to break. Now the 98 custom has something really similar but its controlled by sound. Every time i shoot it just spins one into the chamber rather than forcing it. Its called a "rip clip" It is a must for fully auto 98's.

As far as the auto cockers go... i don't like the wacky color style for two reasons... One is that u can't play any woods ball because the thing is shiny as hell... and two, try throwing it about 60 feet and it still being able to fire without any problems (have done it to my 98)

Soon2bG60 09-17-2008 09:53 AM

Why not a Evil Omen? I had one and Didnt have a problem, Used too really break paint sometimes, Stock do like 25BPS.

461_SS 09-17-2008 09:59 AM

Check out craigslist for deals. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/spo/843685408.html Guy looks like he is selling everything together for a good price

Erik 09-17-2008 10:22 AM

I have a spyder Xtra, which i believe is a low end model, that i use for speedball. Its all manual trigger but ill be upgrading soon. I also have a tipmann 98 custom with an 18" 32 degrees barrel for the woods and tactical stuff. Ill second the reliability of the custom. The gun is a little heavy but its super durable. as for the spyder, it feels like a tin can (which has its ups and downs) making it light but maybe flimsy. My only downfall for the custom though is the elbow for the ball feed wobbles thanks to a lost pin. Im sure thats like a 10 or 15 dollar fix though.

What masks does everyone use? I have a scott but unsure of the model. I painted it red and black, ill throw a pic up soon.

edit for pic!

OMGz Turbo 09-17-2008 10:22 AM

Tippman with response, or ehandle with a powerfeeder.

I like bob long's and autocawkers lol

i have a IRC angel myself.

Soon2bG60 09-17-2008 10:23 AM

I have a Exrtreme Rage Mask yellow and grey, with a pitch black visor, It also haz a fan =]!

D Money 09-17-2008 10:26 AM

haven't guns changes drastically?

I remember being in 8th grade and having an ANS cocker and that being one of the nastiest guns around. Now they have electrionic triggers and all kinds of wild ****.

Erik 09-17-2008 10:29 AM

X2 on the triggers. pull a trigger once and you fire 10 shots :-p

sucks to be shot close range

phsdrummer2 09-17-2008 10:49 AM

after i get out of class ill post up a bunch of info / opinions as a player and referee for many years.

streetAssasin96 09-17-2008 10:50 AM

the tippman x7'S are sick. you can change parts to make them look like and ak or an m4 or mp5. plus you can get e-grip which change change fire rate to 1 shot, bursts, or full-auto. they are kind of expensive, but i have friends that have them and they say they are amazing to play with.

Keeper1343 09-17-2008 11:15 AM

I heard from a few shops that they aren't as good a gun as they thought they were going to be... There not worth the money. You can mod any gun to look like a real gun... Theres not reason to even fire past 15 balls a second. Thats just wasting **** loads of paint. Mine fires 16.2 balls per second and thats alittle too fast for the most part. I just use it full auto when i need to lay down cover. then its pretty bad ass

Angels are another big waste of money. No reason for them whatsoever. Thats a gun u buy just to say you have an angel.

BustedUjoint 09-17-2008 11:24 AM

I would highly recommend the Tippman A5 with e-grip, and if your looking for mods for it here is a KILLER site. The A5 is nice because for a few mods you can throw some SERIOUS paint down field. I replaced my e-grip board with an A.P.E. Rampage board, adds more speed and more firing options. I have my A5 looking like an UMP .45 with folding stock. They have been around for a while and are very good people. If you do want to buy something from them. Sign up for the Forums and you get 10% off every purchase I think, at least you used to.

Here is roughly what mine looks like.

Not really when you play speedball every weekend, on a REAL inflatable course. Of course i got it with a nitro tank for 500$ and it retails 3x's that

97TurboDSM 09-17-2008 01:39 PM

lol not all AC have crazy color schemes so iunno wtf you're talking about. I think you can get AC in flat black, last i remember. go find a paintball store/field that stocks markers and ask to shoot a few to see what you like. they all feel different in your hand so finding one that works for you is important

agreed as well the tippman 98 is a really reliable gun and really easy to customize, just heard that tippman came out with a new gun the X7 I think, I've heard alot of good times about that as well.

Willdue 09-17-2008 03:18 PM

I like the X7 but seems real bulky and expensive.

So far

1. AC
2. A5
3. ???

abrok99 09-17-2008 03:26 PM

it is going to be held in lancaster. i will post details soon about the event. im taking my 98 custom. most of the guys on my team have 98's, and some have autocockers and x7's and A5's. autocockers are great guns but highly over-rated. you can have $1000 gun but in the end its up to the individual. practice makes perfect. thats my opinion. i'll keep you guys posted on the event.

Willdue 09-17-2008 05:35 PM

Max, PM me the info. I MAY have a gun by then, but I have no team?

I most likely going to get a Autococker since i will be doing mainly speedball. Im just trying to get a decently priced on ebay

Edit: And i really dont care what it looks like really.

Keeper1343 09-17-2008 07:20 PM

if ur only doing speedball then don't get a 98... I didn't realize u were just going to be doing speedball. tippmanns are too heavy for it. I thought u might be doing both like me.
