BlackBulletTSi 05-06-2008 07:28 PM

agreed wtf enough of the versus already. Keep that **** on Comcast. How many games we guessing. I'm thinkint its goin full 7.

05suby 05-06-2008 07:50 PM

i call flyers in 6

ericnjttz 05-06-2008 07:53 PM

the only team i was worried about was the habs.....

wrx_snobordr 05-06-2008 07:55 PM

Flyers in 5!

Will be a great series.

TalonTsi97 05-06-2008 08:34 PM

I'm so pumped. I just found out i'm off friday and sunday so i will be able to watch both games. I'm not a big fan of versus either but better then not seeing the game and getting cell phone updates while at work. Plus me and my dad got tickets to game 3 so thats going to be a blast.
Flyers in 6

yeah i agree, and versus dose suck, but dose anyone have verizon fios tv, is the comcast channel on their list since its a competors station?

Scapegoat 05-06-2008 09:50 PM

I'm throwing caution to the win

flyers in 4, but only because they SHOULD be pumped up, having beat the Hab's and turned themselves around from last season.

wgknestrick 05-06-2008 10:00 PM

I guess I am the only Pens fan here, being from Pittsburgh. This should be an entertaining series with hopefully (finally) some fights. The NHL playoffs were incredible so far as I have enjoyed every series I saw. I will also stick up for the Vs crew as they call a fairly unbiased game and are heads above the NBC crew. Hearing Comcast's Jim Jackson whine and call a game like a fanboy has grown very tiresome. Someone needs to tell him that it is not a blown call every time a Flyer is knocked down carrying the puck, but Therrien usually carries the whole broadcast. He is by far Philly's best broadcaster.

Can't stop Laroque

I call Philly in 6.

We have played well against the Penguins this year and I don't see them getting the upper hand here either. We'll see though, we shall see.

ericnjttz 05-06-2008 10:54 PM

wont be many fights if any....i dont see cote getting in the lineup

enigma 05-06-2008 10:56 PM

I think jackson is a bit "smarter" calling play by play than terrien, bundy seem's to have caught the tard a bit. Versus announcers may be non-biased, but thats only because they don't know ice hockey from monkey in the middle. I think NBC is crap as well.
And i believe that laroque called Cote "toughest man, pound for pound in the NHL".
Should be a great series, hopefully sandy crosby takes the tampon out of his ass, and shows why he belongs in the conference finals and not on the canadian diving team in bejing.

Stillen GLE 05-06-2008 10:58 PM

IIRC the times we did verus the penguins Crosby wasnt in the line up i think thats what made it so easy. i dont think it will be that easy this time around. but well see. flyers in 6

doug 05-06-2008 11:03 PM

Man it's going to be an awesome series, I think the Flyers can pull another rabbit out of the hat and take down the Penguins.. but BIRON has to show up like he has been. This sucka may go to 6 or 7 games....

wgknestrick 05-06-2008 11:05 PM

I am predicting that penalties will end the Flyers' turnaround. They had a great season to go from worst ever to the final 4 in 1 year, but I think it ends here. We will see how they perform against the best goaltender right now, as MAF will not spot them goals like Price did. Pen's are too deep a team offensively, and have the best special teams so far this playoff.

Biron will not have 20 pucks hit the post in this series. He has greatly improved his game, but has been getting some fortunate bounces.

That's impossible, because the Flyers can't play themselves in the Eastern Conference Finals!

Stop being a penboi you noob!

DelCoTuninG 05-06-2008 11:21 PM

hopefully versus is in Hd.....

Sr20.SES 05-06-2008 11:21 PM

posts just means the goaltender is playing his angles well

It is pretty neat that most of the players on these teams met in the AHL finals a couple of years ago (WBS Pens Vs Phantoms), and now they meet again in the NHL. Phantoms obviously won that match up, Hopefully the Pen's can avenge their loss.

WBS Pens are also playing the Phantoms in the AHL playoffs right now.

Goes to show these are two strong franchises. I'm a Flyers fan all the way but I've got to give credit when credit is due and the Pens are playing pretty well. It's going to be a very close series all the way and both players have their offensive stars. Maybe flyers don't have big sell out names like Crosby, (thank god because that means we have more people staying on their feet instead of diving) but we do have some players who are hungry for goals, like Umberger on Fire last series. It's going to be a strong offensive match but when it comes down to it It's all about the Goalies. Biron is looking strong and MAF is due for some flukes. Happens to the best of em.

Flyers in 6.

im a pens fan too but flyers come first. this is the series i have been looking forward too, well not as much as the flyers vs red wings in the cup again, but laroque is a punk. i cant stand that dude. jim jackson i think is a decent announcer. he has a point about some of the calls tho. there have been plenty of missed calls against the flyers.

the penalties will prob be what kills the flyers cause the nhl is against the flyers. its a joke on how many calls go uncalled against the flyers.

exactly my thoughts. Not that a few of the other guys don't have the balls, but they really have no chance. lol

I'm going Flyers in 6 also. Should def be a great series. But we took out #1 and #3, time to take out #2 :)

Um that #3 was one of the worst #3s of all time. They barely had enough points to make it into the 8th seed without winning their division. No offensive depth, and a slow over-sized defensive core. I couldn't believe how worn down they looked against the Flyers. Most of their D just stood around lacking any energy to get the puck. I keep hearing how the Flyers shut down Ovechkin, but he averaged 1.3pt /game. I don't consider that "shut down". There was just no one else that could generate chances on that team.

#1 Montreal was a group of over achievers with some skilled guys that have the reputation of disappearing in the playoffs. Anchor that with 2 rookie goaltenders and you have a paper tiger. They scored a ton of PP goals in the regular season, but could barely even get a PP shot off in the playoffs. There is a reason it took them 7 games to dispose of lowly Boston.

I'm not saying the Pens had to beat all juggernauts to get where they are, but just trying to put things in perspective.

poisonivory 05-07-2008 10:38 AM

^^ i agree about #3, they DID barely make it in the playoffs at all. I was just throwing it out..lol beat #3, beat #1, now #2 is up,thats all I was saying.

Personally, as a hockey player, and fan, I will admit that Pittsburgh WILL be very hard to beat. Flyers will need stellar goaltending from Biron, as well and point contributions from more than 3 players. As you said, Pens are a very deep team and pose threats on all aspects of the game. CAN the Flyers beat them in a 7 game series? Yes. Will it be tough as hell? Yes. BUT, it can be done if they play consistenly and physically.

Very good summary of the series.

My biggest worry is if Biron reverts back to his mid-season difficulties going pipe-to-pipe. The Pen's like to work the puck across the ice a ton, and someone always seems to be open. If the D can stay in the Pen's pockets and Biron can cover post to post...should be good to go.

ericnjttz 05-07-2008 11:26 AM

are you guys nuts????? WASHINGTON WAS ON FIRE They were the best team going into the playoffs. they won like 12 out of 13 games just to be able to make it.

The pens have not even been challenged yet, they bombed the last game of the regular season so they could play the sens, who should have never made it, then they got to play the rangers, who just fell apart. Its going to be a good series...officiating is gong to be HUGE....so we'll see

Lets be fair, those last 13 games were played mainly against their own division, the weakest in the NHL, who had no chance of making the playoffs. It was a nice run, but I would not classify them as the best going in, they just had large amount of momentum.

The Flyers and Pens are very evenly matched. If you want to go off momentum the Flyers have the edge. They played two very competitive series and pretty much man handled the number one seed. Side not to the over achievers comment, nobody wins the Stanley Cup without a number of players over achieving. The Pens had two easy series against the Sens and the Rangers. They faced no adversity and really were never tested.

Both goalies are hot. You can't really say either is having a stronger playoff. They both have been a key aspect of their teams and that is all they are capable of doing, they can't score, they can just keep the team in it.

ezdrummer 05-08-2008 08:16 AM

they got a pic of crosby practicing for the series...

Timmonen out with a blood clot is terrible news for the Flyers. Surely this is a huge loss for the Flyers in an area they are thin at already. Best wishes for a safe recovery.

Pens will surely benefit from his misfortune.

I really wish we were playing the Rangers right now. For some reason, I just have a bad feeling about this.

Penguins have always been a handful for us, this is going to be a super interesting series for sure.

JSpecV03 05-09-2008 05:48 PM

yeah i think its going to come down to game 7, and hopefully it will be at home.
