Home Depot Lip.......New Pics Added In First Post
got bored tonight so i made a trip to home depot to get the parts to make the lip since i've been wanting one but don't have the cash for a real one. i like how it came out, no weird creases or waves in it. i'll take real pics tomorrow after i clean it. let me know what u think

looks great. whatd you use for the lip? nice work..
Wow, that looks awesome.
i've seen this on Mazdas before. also was thinking about doing it to my car but then i just found a stocker
looks good man. |
He used the rubber material that is made for garage doors. Looks real clean
thanks guys. i love how it looks and you can't beat it for about $10 bucks if u take the time to line it up right. like vypurr said its a garage door sealer from home depot. ill have good pics up tomorrow to really see how it really looks outside. hopefully it looks as good and better than it does just in the garage
Yea it deff looks damn good. My buddy was showing me this on the srt forums and for 10 bucks or whatever it costs its deff worth it..
How did you mount it to the bumper?

I personally do not think that they look as good in person as they do in pictures.
that turned out great! i'm gonna have to re do mine soon, ever since i put the basics in, i've been tearing up the lip on my driveway, lol.
come do mine.
That looks really really well done.
thanks guys

and bump for new pics in the first post |
found my next little project :) lol looks nice
i cant get used to seeing it on subarus or other cars with the grooved bumper bottom.. because its not flat /straight
but all good, its what you wanted and for the right price! |
Garage door bottom seal FTW.
nicee!! first the exhaust now the lip. lol..
thats crazy. Hd lip lol
do mine front and back :)
Pic from underneath?
hah nice scott. I never got back to you on aim but that loks nice i thought you had acctually gotten the limited lip or something.
Very good. Now work some side skirts...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...rontAngle1.jpg Out of all the crazy crap I did to that car I think the Lowes Lip was the one I was most proud of. There is something inherently cool about taking something so utilitarian as garage door molding and using to make your car look cool. |
lol thanks guys. theres only one small problem now....its gone so i cant take pics underneath. i guess the super heavy duty tape didn't like the cold weather and speeds of the turnpike last night cuz when i got home it was no longer on. guess ill have to try again and prep again and maybe some screws but i dont know if i feel like tappin into the bumper
Short self tapping sheet metal screws bite fairly well into plastic. Put some rtv on the back side of the screw for a "threadlock" effect.
LiquidNails ftw :supz:
lOOKS DAMN GOOD FOR $TEN COME DO MINE ILL GIVE YOU TWENTY TO DO IT!
What material is it made of? Foam? Rubber? Plastic?
I've seen people use garden edging before. Yours looks a lot better than those did. |
I'd like to do it to my ms3, here is what it would look like I guess...

This is like the 50$ paint job. Looks good in pics, until you see it in person and realize that people just shouldn't modify their car with home depot products.
The $50 paintjob looks great if they put in the proper time for massive prep work.
It is almost embrassing to admit but in the pix it looks good.
Awesome. I love my home depot lip. But mine is screwed in, not taped.
Can anyone take some pics from underneath?

mine looked just as good as did on the car as it did in pics. its not hard to do...just take the time to prep and clean everything and use a heat gun to make sure the tape gets extra sticky. i'd use a few screws or something like liquid nails tho since mine fell off the day after on a trip on the turnpike
