in a few years, you'll be wishing you were back IN high school....besides being able to go to the bar/beer distributor, and get beer whenever i want it, it really isn't too great getting older

Hahaha. I sense a hint of asshattery in this comment. Welcome to 55% of TST.

It's actually called having parents who would rather see you in something more then a 1989 Honda Civic (no offense I like honda's but its such a classic teenager car) at 17. Boo hoo. I drive a Subaru and someone drives a mitsubishi....

mr_eh 06-08-2007 02:34 PM

bro, not for nothing, and im not hating, but dont come with that attitude. your fortunate, your parents bought you cars that you dont deserve, leave it at that... no fresh out of hs kid needs/deserves an evo, wrx, srt, etc etc... that they didnt earn, it sets a stupid presadence for kids...

when i was in hs, i had no car, when i graduated, i had no car, my dad got me a pos grand am to get back and forth to college with, then after i finished school / got a job i got my srt4 with my own $, pay for it with my own $, and it's a **** of a lot more rewarding then if i had it handed to me.

your parents wanted to see you in something more then a 1989 honda civic much like they wipe your ass for you so you dont miss any spots, cut the crusts off your pb & jelly sammiches and make sure your lunch box thurmus is securely closed.

end ****ing rant.

no asshattery....i just believe that parents give their kids wayyyyy too much these days. I think you should work for what you have, earn it, and you'll respect it more. or how about this, if you are gonna have your parents buy your evo or sti, pay your own insurance.

amen, i hate kids rolling in evo 9s that dont pay their own insurance then have the nerve to talk about other peoples cars like they are ****.

if i didnt have to pay my own insurance id be driving a z06

RayArroyo 06-08-2007 03:04 PM

congrats and thanks for making m feel so old now!!

Signatus230 06-08-2007 03:19 PM

Congratz guys.

@ Mr eh: I have an RS and am putting an WRX engine, does that include me in your list? I payed for the car, I payed for the engine, parents just drove me to get both of em. Heh I actually got my liscence in October of '05 and got my car in Feb of 07, lol. It sometimes bothers me when I see people my age driving STi's and stuff, but then again, once I am done the swap... am I any better? After a tune and some minor stuff, I will be faster, lol.

slobaru 06-08-2007 04:56 PM

meh who cares what you have. If you take care of it and respect it. You will never see me talk sh!t. Unless it's to dimitri.

ScubaSteve 06-08-2007 05:56 PM

Difference is that you payed/ worked for your car Ian. The point was that some kids are given $30k cars that they never had to drop a penny into and they don't even acknowledge their good fortune.

It just bothers me when I see kids my age or younger driving cars they don't deserve. I worked hard to afford my dodge avenger and pay for it myself. Not until 3 years after I got my license am I upgrading to put down some decent #'s and I'm still paying for it myself.

I can't say I would stop my parents from getting me an evo if they had the money but some people just need to appreciate what they have. Sorry for getting so sidetracked.

see below, if your paying for it yourself then you should be proud of yourself and have my respect.

Well said – especially when you fast forward 13 years.

In any case, congrats to you guys.

240sxDann 06-09-2007 01:12 AM

haha i forgot I made this thread for a second! Am I on that list cuz I drive a mustang? Granted, the only reason I have it is because my mom bought me my 240sx for $250 which I ended up turning around and selling for $2100.

97MaximaSE 06-09-2007 11:47 AM

Haha I'd much rather have the 240sx over the mustang. I'm not a big fan of most mustangs. Usually it seems that most mustang drivers who criticize ricers are doing the same general thing to their car. I respect Mustangs if they have smart stuff done to them, I still wouldn't want to drive one.

How'd you get the 240 for that little then turn it around for that much? Why the change from 240sx to Mustang?

Well, I picked it up for that little because I got it from a friend of the family. He didn't know the gem he had, and was getting ready to donate it. I put about a grand into it in repairs and what not. It had 193k on it though, and was in need of some more repairs that I couldn't afford. I had it for sale in front of my friends house (a road which gets a lot of traffic) and a kid called me about it who really wanted a 240 and had been looking for a long time, but couldn't find any. Until he found mine, that is. Plus, it had a REALLY clean, 98% rust free body. So I sold it. I wanted to get a muscle car, and I almost bought a z28, but it got sold a few days before I could go to get it, and I ended up finding the mustang on here, went to jersey, and drove it home.

Drftpretty 06-09-2007 09:12 PM

It takes years for it to set in. The trick is finding a girl who looks like a Junior the rest of her life :) good luck with that.
