it was the vq30. That was the standard engine from 95-01. The guy was on maxima.org. There were some videos of it doing drive bys that sounded pretty good also.

Look for the links that say cams and cattman headers and you can dl the flyby videos. It was running open headers in that video supposedly.

the cams on my maxima arent that lopey at idle but i got the 3.5 in my 97 if anyone really wanted to hear it that badly in person come over and take my exhaust off.

I love the lope sounds awesome and that was definetly open header. Sounds mean probably surpise a lot of people hearing that come out of a maxima. I wanna see the fly by videos.

The 35 swap is getting popular, that was going to be my next mod with my max. sounds amazing.

The idle sounds like a boat LOL but once he revs it up it sounds amazing

I always though the VQ30 was better for forced induction applications. Tehn again, I thought this body style Maxima still used the VG! :)

I dont know i had a 3.0L with a supercharger and i would have came close to 400whp but the guy that did the 3.5L swap and sc'ed put down like 440whp or something and i believe we were running the same size pulley. Although i dont have the car anymore because it died. But the new owner said hes probally going to put the 3.5L with the charger on that.

My 87 max sounded like that. it had the vg30 in it also. Okay it didn't sound like that but I would have liked it to. craziness.

The VQ30 pulls faster times or at least it did when I owned a Z! Maybe more years R&D but it was proven faster. Plus the VQ35's rods might as well be made of plastic
