Opinion wanted....

ok guys.. heres my situation...my drivers side fender and front bumper cover are both in need of new paint... the fender has a primer spot from when i dented and "fixed" it... and the bumper was curb a long time ago... my debate is this, do i:

A) get the fender and bumper repainted in the current color of the car (crystal gray metallic)

B) get the entire car repainted in a different color (my goal, but its much more money)

or C) something else...

here are some pictures for reference:

the fender

you can see the primer close to the a-pillar
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...i/DSC03260.jpg
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...i/DSC03145.jpgyou can see the bottom of the bumper is scraped

if i were to get the car repainted it would be this color (my old car)

Sedona red STi.

GreddySRT 02-22-2007 09:30 PM

I had an Mx-6 LS..SC with nitrous.. Good car. My vote is to repaint it the same color.

95legenddriver 02-22-2007 09:32 PM

how did you like your old cars color compared to the silver honestly i think that the silver is HOT but EVERYbody has it

EDIT: i like red! otherwise its hard to choose

Silverfc88 02-22-2007 09:33 PM

I voted to paint the pieces the stock color. It will be much cheaper and the stock color looks good to me.

If you plan on repainting the car a differently color then I would think you would need about $3000-$4000+ dollars maybe even more because of the change of color. It would be unique though.

CHAOS 02-22-2007 09:33 PM

i love the kauai blue... it was rare... and it was beautiful... i refuse to paint it red because ive already seen red sti's and i dont really like em.

CHAOS 02-22-2007 09:34 PM

as far as paint cost goes... im good friends with a professional painter... so hes willing to work with me on it.

Win.

But in all seriousness, getting a good paint job in a different color will be serious $$$. I vote to paint the fender back to stock, but if you really want it to be different go for it.

Ronin Tactical 02-22-2007 09:41 PM

Patriot Blue, like my new Dodge....

TROLL 02-22-2007 09:42 PM

even if he is giving you a deal on it, the cost of the materials will be extensive... i say repaint stock color, its nice.

goodfella732 02-22-2007 09:42 PM

I voted C. Here is what you should do...

Super JDM STi pink. With retro-HID projectors.

Silverfc88 02-22-2007 09:42 PM

I'm not a fan of the red either for some reason.

If he can get you a deal on the paint swap then I say go for it, but something is telling me that the paint cost is still going to be $.

dt98gsr 02-22-2007 10:05 PM

I happen to think CGM is one of the nicer Subie colors out. I voted repaint the fender and bumper the stock color.

rocco 02-22-2007 11:36 PM

i like the silver with silver bbs. but i do like the red with the black bbs. i would just paint the fender and use the money for something else down the road.

My Kl lasted maybe 4 months boosted and juiced. It ran strong. Timing belt skipped a beat going down a hill, was pulling out of an apex, smacked 3rd gear..done. Towed it home, parted it out, bought my srt for cash.

StealthTC 02-23-2007 12:33 AM

Audi Dolphin Grey FTW

Ronin Tactical 02-23-2007 01:28 AM

Audi TT Nimbus Grey Pearl...freaking awesome, very unique...

Omar_MSP 02-23-2007 02:10 AM

how about paint it spicy orange? lol...

Buster 02-23-2007 02:31 AM

Ill trade you my CGM fender for your buster one and JDM fogs.

OptiCon 02-23-2007 08:27 AM

Personally, i'm a fan of rust spots and peeling top coats myself.

Tell ya what... let's trade paint.

JSeoul 02-23-2007 08:38 AM

Would you consider a two tone? like a fade. I think that Silver is sick. Maybe you could mesh the old paint of your previous car to the new one? That would stand out a lot more in my opinion.

XxaltezzaxX 02-23-2007 10:13 AM

I have a soft spot for the mx6 color, but the color on your car now is nice and I would vote for that. On the other hand, the sti in Kauai Blue would be the tits, but I'm biased on that point.

P.S. on further inspection, I vote for the pink.

Omar_MSP 02-23-2007 11:05 AM

how about that white ivory pearl. like the g35's.

S4toSTI 02-23-2007 11:17 AM

Your stock color ftmfw

Ronin Tactical 02-23-2007 01:58 PM

You could repaint the area in your OEM color, have the dude throw some metal flake in some clear, and shoot the whole car....

Old school, baby....but not lowrider type metal flake (excessive)....

CHAOS 02-23-2007 02:14 PM

someone should PS the audi color and sedona red ...

Sedona Red Pearl when painted by subaru in the factory looks terrible. I got rear ended and when I got it repainted, the SRP is a whole lot deeper than you think. It has the same exact kind of light properties that your CGM has (like in the evening the paint looks like it is changing tone because of shadows) also.

CHAOS 03-07-2007 04:11 PM

lets bump this bitch!

drew 03-07-2007 04:22 PM

british racing green, never seen an sti that color

CHAOS 03-07-2007 04:24 PM

CHAOS 03-27-2007 09:51 AM

tjf 03-27-2007 10:12 AM

i say same color, even though that blue would be different theres still too many blue subaru's on the road

now i really need to go find some big league chew...

JSeoul 03-27-2007 10:22 AM

Only 28 votes? WTF people. Come on. I swear there are a million members and only 100 active ever. That means the other 72 should of polled. bump
