MINI COOPER OWNERS on TRISTATE

Who else has a Mini Cooper on here? It would be nice to have a little list going. See who has what mods and which route they went if any with their cars.

I have a new Mini S one of the first ones that came out. Drove to VA to get it. And I also have a 1967 Mini.

jkjersey 01-27-2007 11:21 PM

UnderPressure what year mini S did you acquire. How long have you had it?
Do any of you go to the meets?

Anyone deal with Eric@Helix on here? They are located by the mainline in PA.

When the weather gets warmer I would like to organize a cruise or something of the sorts.

I have a 2002 Mini S purchased it new in 2002. I do not go to any of the meets I use to be active on a few boards when I first got the car b/c I was having issues with the cold start and the pulling to the left I think it was. After that was fixed I stopped posting pretty much. The car is bone stock and still has all the air bag stickers on the inside and what not. I think the car has 10k miles on it or so.

Same group of people that would rip apart a Miata, they have no idea what they are talking about.

Nice MINI! What kind of rims do you have?

I have an '06 BRG MCS. There were three MINIs including mine at last Wednesday's meet at the Dunkin Donuts in Hamilton (Sloan Ave.). I might be there tomorrow if the weather is nice. Feel free to drop in.

The wheels are 17'' BBS CV's. One of the best wheels for the mini imo. When is the next meet out in hamilton?

cmr076 08-16-2008 10:12 PM

i have a mini! R-speed catback and craven speed intake box. i was talking to jan @ RMW for an hour or so earlier today and we were discussing setting mine up for 1/4 mile :) should be interesting... and starting to sound expensive

Mini R56 08-18-2008 12:00 PM

Ha It is I put like 5k into mine and that was on just basic mods but ALTA does make good products

b0bbY 03-21-2010 05:21 PM

hwo many of you guys still have your mini's?

cmr076 03-21-2010 09:57 PM

blah blah blah blah. Lots of talk outta you.

I've got an R53. Craven intake box sittin in my room with a 17% pulley in the mail. Making some decisions about suspension and wheels for the summertime.

igo4bmx 03-22-2010 10:43 AM

damn guys i didn't know a smaller pulley could add so much power to these cars! my brother in law has an older SC mini- should he buy a 15 or 19% pulley for his stock car?

this might be a cool gift for him!

Yeah, after a pulley, intake, injectors, and a tune, it's pretty much over though, haha. There's a big debate about putting a 19% pulley on a stock car because it'll end up spinning the SC too fast and possibly burn out both the SC and the water pump, so 15% is where it's at. It'll make a great gift considering they can be had for less than $150.

so I can just get the 15% pulley? Will I need to get his car tuned or can it run that way safely? Is it hard to install?
sorry for the noob questions but im not a mini guy- but would love to suprise my bro in law with a cool gift.

No need for a tune, the factory ECU can adapt fuel trims for that small of a PSI boost. I'd also grab a new SC belt ($35ish). I haven't changed one myself, but as I understand it, if either of you are at all mechanically inclined, it's pretty straight-forward, but you'll need a pulley removal tool. You can rent one from Helix Minisports in Manyunk, or have them do it for you (and they sell everything you'd need, too!) Good luck with it, and it'd be a definately cool gift.

cmr076 03-23-2010 10:51 AM

17% all day. mine screamed with an intake and 17%, it also made almost 190 @ the wheels!
