Best turbo?

Just looking for some feedback as to who you guys think makes the best or quickest spooling turbo. I've heard that precision/garrett are the best. what else is out there?

This will be going on a KA-T.

For quick spooling look into ball bearing turbos. PTE looks like they have good stuff from my searching. Turbonetics also looks very good.

Mmmmm, Ball bearings. And remember, the lighter the wheel, the easier it is to spool. There is nothing quite as satisfying as some titanium aluminide goodness.

Spool time and etc also relies on what motor it is being applicated on.

I was actually looking at the Precision SC6176-E, the SC6169-E and the SC6152-E. thanks again for the input.

garrett GT ballbearing FTW!

i don't know what size you're looking for but probably somewhere around GT32R would be sick

stwhy 07-10-2006 07:53 PM

That's a question only you can answer only you know how you drive what you want your car to drive like so well you just gotta do research and decide what you want your car to do

Tru2Blu 07-10-2006 08:37 PM

^^^ i hear ya. thanks for the advice.

Krautfed20v, i was looking at that one too.

transient response of a ball bearing turbo will make you love to have one!

how much power do u want to make?

Tru2Blu 07-10-2006 11:37 PM

i want to make between 400 and 480 to the rear wheels.

05OCsrt-4 07-10-2006 11:40 PM

my personal opinion is that i won't go anything but garret, i haven't heard of many complaints and they warranty their products, great turbos and you'll love the power of their dual ball bearings

I had an SC6152E on my spec-v.. it spooled up real fast.. and was capable of 500+whp.

koho2731 07-11-2006 01:12 AM

ck out www.turbo-concepts.com they do great work and they can build you what ever you need. What every you do do not cheap out on the turbo or you will pay for it in the end. TC is the only place I will trust to put my turbos together.

This doesn't equal fast spooling turbo.

GT30R (.82A/R turbine) is probably the fastest spooling turbo capable of your 400whp goal on pump gas.

Tru2Blu 07-11-2006 09:45 AM

^^^ i am aware of that, im planning on rebuilding the motor before all this. but i hear so much talk of turbo lag i was just wondering about peoples experiences.

ej20wrx123 07-11-2006 05:25 PM

I wouldnt really worry about spool up
1) Its over rated
2) you have a 2.4L
I would def get a garret gt turbo.... a 30r if you looking for about 500 and a 35 if your looking for about 600.

stwhy 07-11-2006 06:37 PM

I would say 500 for a 35 ond 400 for a 30 cause those are maxed out race gas numbers probably that's what I'd think at least a 35r would be your best bet for that kind of power and it should spool nicely its just what kind of 35 now really

ej20wrx123 07-11-2006 07:44 PM

If you want a quick spooling turbo you should be maxing it out to meet your goals.

SoStock92 07-17-2006 01:12 AM

Garrett T25 for the win...

My friend is making 617/625 on a GT35R on a 3.2L inline 6.

US_R33 07-17-2006 01:33 PM

you should also look into the GT3037 and 3071 turbos
