Fake SRT-4s
 

Whats the deal w/this....??

over the past 2 days I spotted not one but TWO regular neons dressed up like SRTs....meaning SRT hood and wing, but regular neon bumpers. I dont get it...do these people think they are actually fooling anyone?? I mean...at least get a fake FMIC srt bumper and badge it correctly...

thats the thing. maybe there not tryin to make it look like an srt-4. maybe they are not finished the "conversion" yet idk. but i can understand some people.. maybe they dont have the money to splurge and get everything to make it look like something its not..

true...they could be in the mail or something. Still...if you are gonna spend all that money building a 'fake' srt-4, why not just sell the car and buy a real srt instead of having a neon that looks like one.

On the same page, im not much into people who badge any car as a more expensive or faster model...like the WRXs that put on sti bumpers..lips..wings..you name it. Who am i though..tomato tomahto

Or, as much as a Mustang lover I am, those DUMBA$$ kids who get v6's or even GTs and throw Cobra bumper or emblems on it. Whats worse is when they don't even do a thing performance wise.

i hate people who do that too i have seen some really bad mustangs too that looked very ricey

A year ago i went to the dealership and saw a new str-4 for 19 and change. I was like damn i might sell my subaru and get one of these....then i realized that it is a srt-4 package. It comes with the hood, wing, and maybe a dual exhaust. Competely dumb if you ask me but i have seen a couple of them on the road i bet thats what you saw.

It's the R/T you guys probably saw. I think it's packaged like an SRT4 minus the rocker panels, front fascia, and big wing.

What about RS's dressed up like WRXs?

Every car has its own like that. Camaros, Mustangs, Lancers, Imprezas, Integras, etc.

What about the mustangs with GTR emblems? ROFL! :rotfl:

an orange one. the guy driving it tho didnt look like he took the time and moeny to actually get the SRT hood and wing. i think they do sell some like that. i didnt get a chance to see if it was an R/T or not...

so, in other words..it was a neon ?

i lost faith in dodge when they came out with the srt design for the base neons.

I think you're seeing the R/T's, too. They took me by suprise a few times, I had no idea what it was.

I like STi bumpers and lips (sometimes wings) on lesser model Impreza's. Factory STi stuff is clean and looks good, sets off a WRX or RS nicely. STi badging without at least an STi swap I don't like though.

The only thing cooler than a WRX with STi body parts is an STi with WRX body parts (and badging :devil: )

srt design's are not R/T's.. none of them. r/t's dont have the large spoiler, don't have hood scoop, etc.

they look like a normal neon with different badges.. i dont see how anyone (who is a car enthusiast) could mistake them for an srt-4

My mistake. I thought they were normal neons but had the scoop for some reason. :o
I've seen two in the area with nothing but the scoop and dual exhaust, which looks ridiculous.

is there a diff motor in an R/t? or is it just apperance

r/t has 18hp over the base neon, nicer interior, wheels, etc ,... but was priced too close to the srt to survive.

..because its so uncommon for a manufacturer to offer models with slightly better specs than the base model

well the SRT4 will be gone soon....SCC says there gonna have SRT4 calibers though

I think the R/T only had the appearance package and a more aggressive cam in it. It also needs premium fuel also.

Of the two I saw...they BOTH had the above grille...but the srt hood and srt wing/trunk. I lived next door to a kid with a real SRT for 6 months, so I know exactly what they are supposed to look like.

neon srt4 is already gone. a neon hasnt been built since last september. caliber srt-4's will be out any time now.

in that case its something the owners are doing or maybe a dealer near you is packaging them on their own like that.

There are a bunch of fake SRT-4's around here. Huge ass wing, with body kit still in primer...it's pretty hawt

Yeah theres a 5.0 up the block from me that has a GTR symbol on in.
