My soon to be favorite exterior mod evAr...

Oh its a suspension mod too, of course :). BBS RGR 17x7.5 forged goodness paired with 235/40/17 Bridgestone S-03 tires...
Anyway for those of you who dont know I purchased these a couple months ago with some paint issues, but I got them for a good price. I am finally getting around to having them repainted now, and cant wait to get the wheels (and the summer rubber) on my car.

Here is one of the wheels test fitted :). This is the original Diamond Black color which I am trying to replicate closely with the repaint. If you look toward one of the lower spoke you can see one of the paint imperfections... a big black spot. I coulda just dealt with it but wanted these to be straight badass with no compromises.

and here are the wheels as of today, straight from bead blasting... they were dropped off to be painted this afternoon and i hope to get them back next week. going with a steel grey metallic which should be very close to the factory finish (which would have cost $900 to truly replicate).

TalonTsi97 05-02-2006 07:15 PM

Im a huge fan of these wheels, Im very interested in how it turns out, good luck

WKderF 05-02-2006 07:26 PM

D Money 05-02-2006 07:34 PM

fresh bling...

the mike 05-02-2006 07:36 PM

Weren't we talking about the finish at Bryan's?

bastid 05-02-2006 08:11 PM

Great wheels! Diamond Black is gorgeous but it can get beat up like you said. I think the steel gray will look sweet though. Maybe a little darker than DB, which will make your car more aggressive looking (and unique)...

I still have 2 and a half weeks until my wheels even reach US soil. :(

Backorder FTL :furious:

markley02 05-02-2006 09:46 PM

soooooooooooooo nice!

xEJ20x 05-03-2006 01:18 AM

And I always thought JDM headlamps and version 7 grill were favorites...

TROLL 05-03-2006 01:26 AM

EDM HIDs and a Liberal grill on mine personally, but who's counting? :)
and yeah, these wheels are my favorite exterior mod... favorite overall mod would be tough to decide on though but these are right up there.

picking the wheels up tomorrow night :). he said the blasting was a little on the harsh side but that in the end they came out great.
i'll be letting them cure for a couple days then getting them mounted hopefully at the beginning of next week or so.

willthethrill 05-16-2006 12:18 PM

why did you not just get them powder coated?

TROLL 05-16-2006 12:21 PM

BBS told me that powdercoating compromises the structural integrity of forged wheels because of the temperatures they need to be heated to (~400 degrees F) during the coating process. it would have been much easier to have them powdercoated, but BBS recommended against it and i didnt want to take any risks.

Dude the red calipers are gonna look so sexy in there. Ps if you wanna trade center caps still you let me know.

wish i knew that before i dropped them off to the guy that was recommended to me :(. he went too aggressive on them and dinged them all up... i'm about 3 hours into a 20 hour sanding job to try and fix his messup, and all the while he claims he did the job properly. i'm SOL and even worse i'm still on steelies in the meantime :(. yeah, i'm :(
