Truckin' Along

After feeling like I was basically lost and just about over half assedly modifying cars, something caught my eye on a Sunday drive not but a mile from my house.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...377742ee_b.jpg
its a 1962 Chevy C10. Spent its entire life as a farm truck and has been sitting for quite sometime. I stopped in and chatted with the owner and we struck a deal. I help remove the tired old 6 cylinder and the truck was mine.

It may look rough and it sure is. However, I've seen worse things come back to life and I'm pretty jazzed about this. On top of that, however, I picked up a 2nd truck.

It's a 2013 GMC Sierra WT. V6 2wd. This will serve as the perfect parts getter and cruiser. Mods are cheap and easy which is a big plus for me. Only issue is it doesn't have reverse but I wasn't going to say no to this deal. So, here I go again. This time though I'm super excited to trek down this path.

sleeperSL2 12-04-2019 02:55 PM

Already have 2" drop shackles, drop spindles and new headlights in my possession for the GMC. Going to finish piecing together the drop kit and figure out what the issue is with the trans. Interior needs to be professionally cleaned though lol

blue91lx 12-04-2019 03:09 PM

I am in for dropping the C10 body onto the GMC content! No, that wasn't your plan.

But it should be.

sleeperSL2 12-04-2019 06:18 PM

I’ll be honest, I don’t have a solid plan for the ‘62. So anything is on the table lol

This^^^^

My only stipulation with the C10 is to keep the original panels. I have no self control so a while back I just grabbed these steel wheels for it. 15x7 / 15x8. Because free.

15psi88 12-05-2019 09:40 AM

Boy am I excited to see this one. We need more pics of the c10!

Diablo2424 12-05-2019 10:40 AM

Nice! I'm excited to see the C10 come back to life, and even the GMC get dropped!

mckpat03 12-05-2019 10:56 AM

Daaang, this is ****ing exciting, for sure!

sleeperSL2 12-05-2019 10:57 AM

Need to find someone who can come out and clean the interior of the GMC. Being a drywall truck the interior is a hot mess. I'd take it somewhere but not having reverse is a slight issue..

Took off the 22x10s that were on the truck (which im selling for super cheap lol) and slapped on some chevy 18s. I have my eyes on some wheels for this already but that will come down the road.

Big_Jim 12-05-2019 12:18 PM

Glad to see you back on here Kyle!

sleeperSL2 12-05-2019 12:37 PM

Hi Jim!

Foolinaround 12-05-2019 01:12 PM

Welcome back Kyle.

Oakes would probably be able to fix that interior up no problem if you got that kind of scratch.

sleeperSL2 12-05-2019 01:21 PM

Thanks !

Yeah I would love to take it to Nick, but rolling this POS work truck down there I don't think would be worth his time lmao

Big_Jim 12-05-2019 02:11 PM

How did you clean the steering wheel on your subaru? I think I need to do that in my navigator. Every once in a while I get black marks on my khakis from it.

sleeperSL2 12-05-2019 02:14 PM

I used GUNK all purpose cleaner and degreaser.

Foolinaround 12-05-2019 02:20 PM

Is it leather big jim? If so I use griots 3 in 1 with a pad and a microfiber. Worked great on my gti wheel

I'm gonna have to give that a try.

yeah, its leather.

sleeperSL2 12-05-2019 03:18 PM

Just use a little bit. That's all I used. I cleaned my steering wheel, door panel, shifter, turn signal stalk lol All were so grimy.

GolNat 12-05-2019 09:53 PM

Sweet!!!! In for truck updates . That c10 deserves some love.

sleeperSL2 12-06-2019 08:09 AM

Trying to figure out the best way to get down an extra 2-3 inches in the rear. The block removal and rear shackles give me about 3". I don't want to shell out the dough for a whole new rear kit. I've reached out to a few companies looking for some info but no on es gotten back to me...frustrating.

Also on the hunt for some GM transit wheels. They're 22" steel wheels that are used to transport trucks/SUVs then are supposed to be sent back to GM or whatever. They're somewhat cheap and will give me a solid option for now.

Also, little side note. It's exciting to jump back on a forum and seeing responses to a build thread..i don't get the same feeling from IG/Facebook. Pretty pumped to be back posting.

We were JUST talking about this. I’ve never been into the FB/IG build deals. Most are for attention. Forums are for community. Totally different experience.

Re: the suspension: Have you reached out to ATS? They’re in Souderton, and do a ton of custom stuff.

sleeperSL2 12-06-2019 12:50 PM

Spindles showed up today ! I love getting deliveries lol
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...299933d1_b.jpg

sleeperSL2 12-09-2019 02:02 PM

Going to order the from drop shocks and rear flip kit soon. Going to ditch the rear shackles I got since I'd need to get a flip kit with what my goals are anyway. Might as well do it right the first time !

sleeperSL2 12-14-2019 05:28 PM

Flip Kit and front Springs are ordered. Snagged a set of OEM 22s that I'm going to stick with for the time being. Being that they're usually expensive the deal I got on these, even while beat up, was too good to say no to.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3a659cb2_b.jpg

So really all that is left is get the trans squared away, fix the CEL, install all the parts and drive it.. lol

GolNat 12-14-2019 07:34 PM

Nice find!! Sometimes you just gotta jump on the deals.

I took one of my wheels to wheel repair shop and they fixed the curb rash for $100. Always an option if you want to clean them up a bit.

sleeperSL2 12-16-2019 11:50 AM

Threw the 22s on this morning. They'll clean up real nice and I'm excited lol The rest of my lowering stuff should be here this week then I just have to install that. Trans will be getting taken care of soon then that's basically it for this old girl other than little stuff.

Foolinaround 12-16-2019 03:18 PM

Something looks off with the 22's on there but maybe its because of the ride height?

PAdutch 12-16-2019 03:52 PM

Trucks with big rims are not my thing...

but old trucks with turbo LSx engine would make this thread much better.

Probably height of the truck and tire size.

Patience! those things will come

Big_Jim 12-18-2019 04:20 PM

powdercoat the wheels some random color.

Foolinaround 12-18-2019 04:54 PM

I'm partial to the periwinkle blue

sleeperSL2 12-19-2019 08:53 AM

I was actually tossing that idea around lol I like Bronze or a dark green.

sleeperSL2 12-19-2019 10:30 AM

Also, maintaining my presence on craigslist I'm grabbing this Denali grille this weekend. Think it'll compliment the wheels nicely. A good OEM "upgrade".

Big_Jim 12-20-2019 10:20 AM

i was thinking something like tiffany blue.

sleeperSL2 12-20-2019 02:34 PM

Pulled the truck into the shop at work with plans to pull and clean the interior but work got too busy. I did manage to get the decals off and debadge it.

Other than cleaning and installing everything that's about it. Trans will be taken care of shortly then it's time to just drive her.

Foolinaround 12-26-2019 11:15 AM

Dang you're making a good deal of progress

GolNat 12-26-2019 07:16 PM

That grill was a great improvement  nice
