2009 Mustang Build
Figured I should go ahead and start with a build thread for the mustang since it's only right to lol.
Day 1 which is the day I picked it up from the dealer which was July 17 2012 http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...v/IMG_4413.jpg First mod which was purchased on July 28 2012 was a Dynomax X-Pipe back catback http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...angCatback.jpg Installed it on August 3 2012 http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...-50-34_726.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...-42-23_933.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...3-42-36_50.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...5-25-11_74.jpg Next mod was installing Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs which were purchased on August 28 2012, and installed on August 31 2012 Before http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...v/IMG_4541.jpg During http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...-01-09_239.jpg After http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...v/IMG_4542.jpg Also on August 31 2012 I decided that after installing the lowering springs that something still needed to be done with the car. So I removed the lower Mustang decal off of the side of the car. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...-34-16_858.jpg |
it looks so much better lowered, but the most appealing mod is by far removing the mustang logo. the car looks so much cleaner without it !
what mods to you have planned next ???? |
That does look better
Thanks, one of the next mods will be 15% window tint. I want to also get a shorter antenna for it so it's not so RC car looking.
im guessing fun DD build ?
how many miles does it have ?? i dont know why but i have a serious want to buy a similar mustang, and build the suspension up, and run it around a track lol |
Looks a million times better without that mustang logo on it.
got it with 62,500 and have 64,600 on it now. its a fun dd for now unless I get a beater.
I've been apprenticing at a mustang specialty shop for about three months now, five days a week and if theres anything I've learned about this model year mustang, after EVERY mod there should be a professional tune applied, intake + exhaust then tune, then if you want more power maybe some cams and beefier fuel components and another tune, the PCM's are very touchy and even only an intake put on without a tune WILL cause it to run rich and **** it all up. These are great cars and a lot of fun if they're built right. Good luck with the build, I'm in for updates
Why didn't you get a V8?
Cause I didn't want a V8 I actually wanted the v6 to build. Everyone builds V8's.
looks good bud. maybe one of these days i'll actually see this thing in person.
Upgrading to the larger GT front brakes is cheap and easy. You only have to replace the rotors and caliper brackets. The V6 and GT calipers are the same for 2005-2009. If you go with bigger wheels you can upgrade to 2011 GT front brakes also.
Yeah my rear pads are getting low, so I was already looking into buying the front caliper brackets do I can get GT front rotors.
Make sure you have a twisty caliper tool when you do the brakes. I stranded myself with the car in the air and had to have the wife drive me to Auto Zone to rent one.
Already have it from when I had to replace the pads on my G6, it's just the universal block tool. But I also found long needle nose pliers work as well as long as you can get the tips of the pliers in to spin the caliper.

Sounds like your all set then. |

Definitely looks A LOT cleaner without the mustang on it. |

Some of the cold air intakes out there for example don't require a tune and some do. I can tell you that's because they are about the same exact size tubing wise as the stock intake system. That is a FACT. It's not pulling anymore air than stock, or at least not enough, to need a tune. The other ones that do need one, are actually pulling more in which is too much for the computer to take in, where as it does need a tune.
So please don't go with a CAI in the end that says there's no tune required. |
JLT and C&L are 2 of the best intakes for the 4.0, I was also looking into the AIRAID/Roush since they're the same intake.

to each his own. |
Well I figure i'll post a couple new pics since there are a couple changes on the car, I have had 15% window tint put on the car as well as installed a roush performance spoiler on it.

Looks good man.
NOt liking tha spoiler. When I had mine I really like the GT500 lip.
Thanks, I know it's not for everyone, I need to get the hood and ground effects for it to tie the car together exterior wise.
what kind of ground effects kit? nothing to ricey...
It's a 3dcarbon lip kit, nothing too crazy.

that looks gorgeous ! ^^^^
cant wait for my truck to be paid down enough to get a stang |

I saw this issue on several of the Fiesta's Julie was looking at. |
I dont like the spoiler, but that lip kit on the black mustang looks good.
When I buy the kit, i'm not going to buy it painted that way I can take it to the local body shop and have them spray it and match it up.
So I installed a 3dCarbon blackout panel that I bought from a local ex mustang owner. I am very happy with the look of the panel on the car.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...v/IMG_0279.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...v/IMG_0280.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...v/IMG_0281.jpg |
Have you thought about tinting your taillights?
Yeah i'm about 50/50 on tinting them.
The wing I'm iffy on, but not saying I don't like it. It's coming together slowly but surely and you are keeping it clean.
i told him once he gets the lip kit the entire car will look a lot better. i like the style of the spoiler but it does look a bit goofy right now.
I love the car man, glad to see someone else that likes to be different and isn't a v8 fanboy. I dig the black berger panel (that's what all the camaro guys call them) and the spoiler. The lip kit will really tie it all together. You should do headers down the road, I heard a 4.0L with longtubes and it sounded godly, even better than the 4.6L
I agree, it will look better with the lip kit on.
I am actually looking into doing a set of shorty headers to retain the cats, then I want to do a new exhaust system on it. My cousin and I installed a set of shorties on his 06 Mustang V6 with the Flowmaster Force II catback and it sounds pretty damn good. The 4.0 seems to sound pretty good when they have chambered mufflers installed on them. I'm just not rushing this build right now since I am getting married in June and the money right now is going towards that.
