Sti is out, Prius V is in. Playing the card I was dealt
Ok so in a nutshell, the STi took a dump. It was driving weird and I took it in to have it checked out. They opened up the diff and all this metal came out with the fluid. The repair bill was more than my parents were willing to pay so they decided to trade it in on a lease for a car that would not be driven as hard, and be very cheap.
They got me the Prius V you see below http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/r...s77/PriusV.jpg Obviously I am pissed, but I still have my miata, and I have decided to make lemonade out of lemons. I plan to throw some Volk TE37s (powdercoated green) on it with bags to slam it and hella stance. It may not be fast but it sure as hell will be unique. My friend made this to give you a rough idea http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...17266910_n.jpg So look for it at the Sonic meet and others a few months from now, and I'll start a build thread once there is something more to post. |
just like my 240, you can't polish a turd but damn it you can def add to it. lol
|
lol @ mommy and daddy sentence.
sweet minivan. |
Bag and stance a lease, sounds about as dumb as that car looks...ever think of saving/working and buying your own car
Good luck brah |
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
|
I'd throw a light tint on it and call it a day.

I think I just found the very embodiment of first world problems.

You could likely find a used diff on NASIOC for $500 or less... but I guess its too late at this point. Should have asked for info before you made that move!
I wouldn't mod your Prius... it is what it is and you'll get some sweet gas mileage so just drive the thing and focus modding on your Miata or elsewhere, or hey you could just start stacking up your savings. |

come on man, whats the logic in that. btw I heard a little rumor you might work at the times dispatch, if so any chance that was you that came shooting out from under the bridge on old bristol pike a few nights back? |
I did work at the Bucks County Courier Times once upon a time, but its been a couple years. Some days I think of how easy I had it there, but it was really going nowhere so I had to move on.

Besides what everyone's said already.
You had an STi and your parents paid for it(basing this on the fact that they wouldn't pay to have it fixed and traded it on a Prius).so they trade it in on a this Prius and you want to ruin that too? Id of been thrilled if my parents bought me a car (which they did,but it was a 94 escort.) Id of been happy if my parents just bought me a damn moped. Throw a light tint on the car and be happy. Then when you had your own money, maybe your parents will let you trade it in on something you'd really like(hopefully its no an STi that you'll kill) |
|
Sti to a prius?
*man hugs* |
^ Perfect .gif. This thread is just too good to be true. Unbelievable.
|
LOL @ 1. parents buying you a car 2. it being a Prius 3. actually modding a Prius.
I would tint it so people didn't see me driving it and call it a day. I can't see how replacing a diff cost more then buying a Prius though. |
I think he's trolling
|
So I won't make fun of your situation or anything, but why not save the 2-3k your gonna spend on your "bought-for-you" dd, and turbo your Miata or something. Surely it'd be more rewarding than slamming your leased Prius, right? And then in 2 or 3 years when the lease is up you actually have a fun car, and not a set of wheels sitting in your garage....if you have a car why did you need another one? If your set on doing something to the prius, maybe a cheap set of wheels on the stock suspension, and light tint/smoke tails and call it day?
|
why not just tint it, and put a bad ass system in there so you can enjoy those uber slow drives around town?
|
epic thread..

Smells like so much troll in here.

Ok let me try to put this all into perspective here:
1. You own a Miata 2. Your parents buy you a STi 3. You break said STi 4. Your parents trade in the STi and LEASE you a Prius V 5. You somehow think that after breaking a STi, that modding a LEASED Prius V is a good idea. Say that a few times in your head: "Modding a Leased Prius." Sounds like a premise to a really bad Ernest movie: "Ernest Mods a Car", but I digress. I have nothing against leases, I want to to lease a brand new car myself, but I am smart enough to know that if I am not 100% committed to buying the car when the lease is up, modding (aside from maybe some tints, and some type of sound system) is a bad idea. Especially when you bring that thing in for service, considering that most mods will void your warranty. I think you need to grow up a little and get your priorities straight. |
Despite what people are saying and your situation, I think the prius looks pretty damn good in the picture you posted. On a different note I would say that doing all of that on a leased car isn't the smartest idea. I would save for a little and pick up a 240sx or mod the miata. Either way it's your money so do what you want. Haters gon hate.

also your misinformed on the void warranty issue. |
Your parents bought you a car and when you broke it they got you another one and your complaining about it?
Best thing you can do is ride out the Prius V and save up your money and when you get enough get another STI or whatever your heart desires. |
Waaaaaahhh parents bought me cars waaaaaahhhh
When my parents bought me a car I was happy as hell. It was a 97 Jetta 2.slow. If someone handed me a new prius I'd be ecstatic. |

Your mom is gonna ground you when you void your warranty

When I leased my car the guy told me I could do what ever I wanted on it, except change the color of the car. He even suggested I keep the stock parts to put back on before my lease ends, or that I could trade the car in with the aftermarket parts, but I would get very little, if anything compensated for. They changed the law around a little bit for both, but most of the time, lease warranty's are a little different then when you are purchasing a car. I can't imagine how much money your parents have if they refused to pay a repair cost on a car because they thought it was too high, so they leased a new car instead... |
Your warranty can only be voided if the specific aftermarket part caused the part in question to fail. Ex, you can put a CAI on your car and have a crank pully go. The CAI does not have anything to do with the crank pully so they have to fix it under warranty.
Granted, many dealers will try and 'void' your warranty but they legally can't. It is a battle in court and probally not worth the money to fight it but you WILL win. The bottom line is that modded a new car that has its warranty is just plain stupid. |
On my cruze they said I can do anything I want except mod the powertrain itself. Bolt ons and appearance mods are ok. Am I gonna slam a lease though? No I'm gonna save money for when my lease is up so I can buy a nice car.

Nick, you silly.
