im all for disciplining your kid when he/she is doing something possibly illegal (like downloading music, if she was doing it illegally) but he went way over the line. he needs to be taken out back and shot.

There is a difference between beating and abusing you kid. I was smacked when telling me wasn't enought and it works. It is classical conditioning.

I use to get beatings WORSE than that when I was a little kid.

There is nothing wrong with a little good ol fashioned discipline.
The belt barely even hurt the girl. She was only crying out of fear and so he would stop.
As soon as he stopped and went away, she was not crying at all.

Well obviously, the parents are old fashioned rednecks that don't know crap about technology.
The little girl is 90% most likely the one who set up the camera, and she purposely did something to piss off her parents and record it to get a reaction and leverage.
Kinda like the Mel Gibson thing where the wife purposely did something to piss off Mel Gibson and she record his outrage and make it viral.

Parents discipline their kids, there is nothing wrong with it, and it's supposed to be kept private.
But when people record it and publicize it make it viral like this, then people get all "omg that's soo wrong"
What should the parents have done, slap her on the wrist and say "you naughty girl, go sit in the corner"
Then the next day the girl would be doing the same ****..... no lesson learned.

The fact that this guy is some government official is what really blew this whole thing out of the water.
If it was just some guy that worked as a cashier at walmart, no one would care.....

I agree with your 2nd and 3rd paragraphs, but not the 1st. If you're going to beat your kids, then why have kids? I don't want to beat my kids, therefore I will not have children. My dad only had a smackdown like this on me one time and never again. It's so stupid. Humanity is stupid. It's all a bunch of silly nonsense, this life is. Kids are going to do stupid ****. Beating them won't solve the problem. What you do is lock them in their room for 2 or 3 days, feed them bread and water 3 times a day and take away everything except their bed and a bucket to pee and poop in. Way more effective then a beating, and you can't get arrested or blown up in public for it. If they value being alive, they won't do whatever it is that caused you to jail them ever again. If they jump out the window and die, good riddance, go spend your money on a smarter investment.

And no I don't think jailing your child for 2 days is "extreme." I do think beating your child like in this video is more extreme and more damaging mentally, and sometimes physically.

It's the fact he's a family court judge who's probably taken kids away for the same reasons...and even worse probably left kids in bad situations because he was sympathetic....

The girl is mentally handicapped and had a passion for technology...so not only is it abuse of your child...its abusing your mentally handicapped child for using something her brain attracts her to, through no fault of her own...

Eh, looks about normal when I was growing up. Mostly to me, some my brother, and even my sister.

It stopped the day I 'manned up' and told my dad off and got in his face. Now he's in his mid 50s and not in any shape to get in a fight.

He pushed me, i pushed back, and he sent me into the wall breaking the drywal with my back because 'I was still brushing my teeth and was going to be late to the school bus' in like 9th grade.

Elementary and Middle school were rough. Dad lost gov job cause of exchanging software back in the 90s and the feds came and took the computers. House arrest, fine, etc and with the **** jobs he could then get, he's only made a best of half of what he did make. 12+ years later he still doesn't make what he did.

If you're getting your ass kicked as a child and are thinking "man this sucks..." But grow up to think "meh, this seems mostly normal" ...that honestly scares me. I think what her mom did was fair punishment. Roll over, get spanked once, done. My dad rarely hit me, only when I really did something bad and then it was one good shot and being sent to my room. For me, that's a total acceptable punishment and looking back on it I absolutely deserved every one I got.

As most everyone else said, The video is sickening. I guess those that say it's ok, Would need to have their own children then picture it happening to them. I'm 100% against hitting a child, It solves nothing and only makes it worse when they are older and the trait carry's on over to their children. I would never, Ever even think about doing something like that to my daughter. It's really, Really sad to see that happening. She's a young female. you do not beat her with a belt. what the **** man. it's just ****ing music. its not like she robbed a store. when the mom said "turn over and take it like a 16-year old, the dad said "she wont, she's disobedient." He also said "see all the problem with the computers in the house." like are you ****ing serious? the ****ing problem is the angry drunk ass father who hates the world and has no consideration for anyone but himself. I have no desire to watch this video but I can get the ghist of it. Seems crazy to me that any NORMAL person could see any reason for this kind of punishment... also here's something nobody that is siding with this asshole thought of - if these people were good enough parents in the first place, their child wouldn't need to be 'conditioned' to be obedient. Problem teens are problem teens because they were not brought up properly as children and kids will eventually grow to be stronger, smarter (in some cases), and more powerful than their parents which means that discipline will eventually go out the window; UNLESS the child was brought up properly and truly cares about his/her parents and their wishes. Most people do things that are asked of them because A. it is not in their best interest to argue or B. because they care about the person that is asking something of them.

Downloading music is not a reason to get whipped like a slave by daddy. Plus you know some psychotic pervert is out there getting off to this video....

I've been beaten like that several times as a child. That was the norm if I got in trouble. Two differences though.....it was my mom doing the beating and she didn't get in my face and cuss me out. It was a quick smacking and then back to business as usual. Sometimes a belt, wooden spoon and even a wiffle bat at times. I however don't do this to my kids.
