Good coilovers for under $1000? feedback please

Hello tst drifters. I need coilovers for my s13. Will be using it as a dd and track and daily beating the shiit out of. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. also if there is a brand that sells/warranties one coilover just incase I blow one.. Thanks

XxIriponzeesxX 09-15-2011 11:27 PM

Save up another 300 and get stance gr+ pros. Ive got them and love them.

GmFwd 09-15-2011 11:28 PM

Let the haters hate, I hear them coming now. Megan is not the POS people make it sound like. Get a set of new megan streets and beat the crap out of them. I have not actually seen a blown/leaking megan coilover and they actually have good customer support.

I have 6 blown JIC coilovers in my garage for s13... that should tell you something right there.

I would stay away from godspeed/isis/ebay... they all seem to be the same coil rebadged 10 different ways.

Good coils would be upper line teins, stance, KW, moton, etc. But for a beater weekend slider megan is all good

OutlawzPrez 09-15-2011 11:44 PM

Awesome... How does everyone feel about bcs? Thanks guys

Eion 09-15-2011 11:51 PM

steve, pbm is pretty good.

Catch240 09-16-2011 12:15 AM

for like 2-300 more you can get some fortune auto coilover, which are fully rebuildable. If your set on the <1000, Id go with bc racing or pbm; but youll find bc racing through a local distributor for less than pbm.

BC, Ksport, Vmaxx, KW V1s, and early Megans are all basically the same thing, just different colors. Megan has come a long, long way.

I thought BCs were basically Megan.

RyanG 09-16-2011 10:11 AM

BC makes Megan Racing.

Different insides however.

Sorry guys but Stances suck.. they ride like **** and bang all over the place. Never had a good set come in the shop.

BC's are a good option and if you get a lighter spring rate they actually ride quite nice. I would honestly save the $$ and go with a set of KW's

OutlawzPrez 09-16-2011 11:15 AM

Ok thanks for all the input. Much appreciated.

XxIriponzeesxX 09-16-2011 02:02 PM

Ive had my stances for about a year now and i havnt had any problems. I think they ride smooth. Idk lol

It.... tells me you have 6 blown JICs in your garage.

I have JIC FLTA2s and they rock my socks off. Have 2 drift seasons under em, but now I daily drive them. No leakage, no nothing. They are great... but dirty. Very nice street ride.

Ill also vouch for Tein HAs - great, but stiff as ****. Much more than the JICs.

supraghost 09-16-2011 06:45 PM

everyone i talk to that runs bc's loves them

Teku18 09-17-2011 11:37 AM

I had Isis and this happened. Do not get isis. I have only herd good things about BC's.

thefro526 09-17-2011 03:47 PM

For 1k, I'd get a set of PBM's just because they're the only coilover in that price bracket valved specifically for drifting.

Also, am I the only person ever who doesn't understand the BC hype? They never felt right to me.

slowZ 09-17-2011 06:09 PM

I have bc on my 370 for a yr now and absolutely no problems

OutlawzPrez 09-18-2011 02:29 AM

Ok so bc seems to be a good option. I'll also look into pbm and and tien has and kw.... I'm use to rocking the good 'ol eibach springs, but if I'm getting serious abt drifting then its time for coilovers....

jspek 09-18-2011 07:58 PM

No to k sport.

Why's that? I have Ksports and love them and have only read good reviews about them.

Got Insulin? 09-18-2011 09:17 PM

Slightly OT, but I'll take this one.

I refuse to post my serious opinion about certain coilovers as I've already said it, but this guy knows what he's talking about. He's got more research on his website than nearly 98% of people actually perform before buying suspension components and has a race dominating car to prove it.

Alas, this is about drifting and it realitively cheap stuff works, then go for it.

Midnight Ryderz 09-19-2011 02:15 PM

First off almost all coilovers are made in the same place JIC MEGAN ISIS BC ect ect the only real difference is the people that go over then find things wrong and fix it then rebadge it but if you want a GOOD SET save up and get stace gr+ or GR+ pro I have the +pro on my s14 and LOVED them and they are made right here in the USA

OutlawzPrez 09-22-2011 12:48 AM

Found some decent ones... Any opinions?

i have BCs and love them. well worth the price imo and they are easily rebuild-able. no need to even send them back

OutlawzPrez 09-22-2011 11:06 PM

Do u recommend any sites to buy bc?

Reese 09-23-2011 08:00 AM

BC coilvers- Been with the company for 5 years now i think. Never had a problem i have switched up my spring rate do to different setups that i use. But lets be honest unless you're going harcore all "super drifter" then the basic BC coilovers are what you want.... I have sold all three versions of the coilovers but the BR version is would suit you fine. PM me and i will hook you up

OutlawzPrez 09-23-2011 12:03 PM

OK THANKS MAN. Pm sent

and that is why cheap coilovers are cheap.
Its all about the shocks in coilovers. ****ty shocks, ****ty coilovers.
When you adjust a shock with its many different settings, its suppose to be a linear change. Some crappy coilovers do not change whether at 1 or at 16 or they change so little.

Yup BCs are baller genetics.....Alot of us that ACTUALLY drift use them and have no problem with'em.....im think about get a set for my daily s14 with some really soft spring rates

Subie_sleeper 10-06-2011 01:38 PM

I'm running ISC coilovers on the Baja.

They were just shy of 800 shipped to my door.

They're made for a Legacy..... a few hundred pounds lighter.... & are holding up pretty well.

Check them out. I got them from AJW Performance in New England.

It's just drifting. Weld the stock springs together for all I care.

Dsmjr 11-07-2011 10:06 PM

Tikiko illuminas might be a good setup

DPancoast 11-07-2011 10:36 PM

You can get function form type 2.5s with custom spring rates for about $1000 new

starkos14 11-08-2011 12:03 PM

Just got BC type BR for my gs300, and wow do I really like them. Debating getting a set for the s14, or PBM.. cant decide... feel like the extra $100 would be well spent with the PBM.

Reese 11-10-2011 02:27 AM

Yeah dude BCs FTW.......hit me up stark i have a sweet BC hook up for ya

High-five. Germany's TUV standards make their stuff radical.
