honestly though whenever a honda runs a fast time why is it always brought up like bragging rights for validation of everyone that owns a honda anywhere. any dsm srt ss cobalt or evo thread is more along the lines of just sharing a fast car with people.

im pretty sure within 3 years of an srt4 coming into production they broke the land speed record for fwd 4 cyl cars on the salt flats and had a full interior non trailered car break into an 8 second quater mile (oh yeah its also not a dragster with a body mocked to look like the car either). and with the cobalt SS impretty sure they were touted as the best handeling FWD 4 cyl to come out and may hold some nuremberg records still. anddd oh yeah i also seem to remember owning a built b18c in a eh3 a few years ago, so no i dont think they all have stock 1.6l cars, that isnt what the post is about so i say this to you too.

so just how giant of a turbo do you need to get that thing to go that fast? :P

any motor will hold x power as long as the components are built to withstand the beating. the turbo is just adding the displacement and im guessing that thing has a nasty valvetrain in the k24 to spool such a big turbo to make enough displacement to run that much power. thing is in most cars like this running record times the companys refuse to disclose the specs of the turbo. i did see they have a borg warner though.

edit: id have to guess the turbo would have to be bigger then 72.4mm because of a story i herd of a 2.4 fwd 4 banger getting dqed from a class race for having a turbo which was bigger then that & since this car is much faster then that class doing high 8s low 9s its gotta be freakin huge lol or along those lines because the RWD factor helps ALOT

hondas are slow, a bolt on gsr civic can beat a stock 20k cobalt ss. anything cant be fast, it just takes the right modifications.

Proving that Honda's ARE fast? What exactly is not fast about a 7.08 at 196 again? He could be proving that VWs are fast, at that kind of speed anything is fast. Just so happens to be a Honda powered car doing it, so what?

Comparing a high 8 second car to a low 7 second car is beyond night and day. Crossing the 7.5 barrier means that you need a 25.5 cage, which is more or less a completely tubed chassis. The "stock" SRT-4, if it were going fast enough, would need to be unstockified to meet safety requirements.

Annnnnnd just for fun I'll mention there are a few high 7 second outlaw honda's out there. Which means they are stock chassis with 10pt cages. Last I checked, SRT-4s aren't there yet.

PS - The Hondata RSX holds all of the 4 cyl N/A salt flat records. All of them. Point is, who cares. Everyone holds a record somewhere, and everyone has a fast car somewhere, and none of them are anywhere near what they started out as.

Again, at those kinds of times you HAVE to be a race car with honda parts/body. Could be a Nissan 240sx, or a Scion TC (Chris Rado anyone?). Build the car to fit the class and safety reqs.

Completely agree with you, I was just making a point, it doesn't matter if its a honda or anything else, at a certain point though a car has to become a race car which is exactly what this.

On a side note does the OP or anyone else know what tranny/rear this car uses, it's gotta be an auto and i doubt its s2k based, which happens to be the only recent RWD honda so any ideas, because I'm really curious.

im sure the rear is some kind of 4-link maybe a fab rear end with a ford nine inch what alot of guys run. and trans could be alot of things maybe a liberty.

there are so many race transmissions out there, im sure its nothing stock, for cars that go that fast, usually it needs a legit race trans, and it shifted more than once, so a its def not a built powerglide
