the dyno #'s are in for the ls1

275 rwhp on motor. THAT'S IT! ask anybody at rev-it-up and they'll back me up, it dyno'd less than a stock ls1 does. the 150hp shot gave me almost exactly 150hp, so do the math:wink:

so who wants to race?

why don't the people who dyno'd 300-350++ hp and raced me post up. i want to refresh my memory about what happened. i can think of quite a few but i'll let them tell the story.

-nick, who thinks dyno #'s don't mean dick and et/mph tell the story.

revitup=:supz:  awesome guys, cool as hell. i wouldn't hesitate going there again to tune in the a/f ratio in the future. alot of goddam neons though.

Did ya get the new intake manifold yet?

wgknestrick 04-24-2006 09:29 PM

auto totally explains the low dyno HP#s. Don't think that is all the engine is making. dyno-ing auto cars = almost worthless.

I am surprised it made that much. Post the graphs

EvlEgl 04-24-2006 09:30 PM

What i wanna know is how you dyno lower than stock...

I've seen auto LS1's make Power.

two I know of have over 400 to the wheels.

10 bolt or 12 bolt rear and what gears?

Silverfc88 04-24-2006 09:32 PM

What was the torque?

It all depends if they can lock them in gear or not. You won't get close to an accurate run with it shifting @ 4K RPM everytime

EvlEgl 04-24-2006 09:33 PM

If an automatic is worthless why do all the 8 second supra guys have powerglides?

You miss-read my post. autos= "worthless to dyno" unless you can lock them in 3rd or 4th gear

EvlEgl 04-24-2006 09:36 PM

so your telling me it's a stock ls1 with a 150 shot

G1GSX 04-24-2006 09:58 PM

nicks motor is stock pretty much

No, but go watch about 5 automatics dyno and you'll know what I mean. I think he is comparing it to what a stock MT LS1 makes. An auto can pull for about 2s on the dyno before shifting into the next gear, they never get close to redline and most dynojets don't load the car enough compared to real-world which causes problems with some TCs. All this leads to much lower maximum #s on dyno pulls, but doesn't mean the car has the power.

Any turbo guy will attest to having to tune their electronic boost controller just for the dyno because it does put enough resistance on the wheels to fully load the engine to make the same boost. Mustang dynos are the exception and this is why the generally read lower HP. I always have to set my EBC to target about 5psi higher than normal on dynojets to get the same boost as what I get on the street.

From what I've seen, you can add up to about 50-100hp on top of what an auto dynos at to get the "true" whp depending on setup.

Soultion...Get a stall.

Those dyno #'s don't mean ****. His car is consitant at 12.1 without juice, 11.1 on it. I have seen Nick smoke cam'd evo's with 355whp without a problem, he also ran close to an fp green powered sti with a tuner who drives it, off the juice obviously but on the juice it was no competition. Reguardless it takes alot to beat him, but I wouldn't say he is unbeatable...

EvlEgl 04-25-2006 12:41 AM

your always faster than someone, but someone is always faster than you

peteyturbo 04-25-2006 02:36 AM

The 275 RWHP seems low, but it's just for comparative purposes, RIGHT?? :)
I mean its a 3800lb car doing 110 traps right??
