Well not picking up the Glock 23 seeing as we can't get our schedules to match up. Still trying to work on the deal for my Sig & the Glock 22 RTF2.

yea there not cheap at all, most people ask me how much mine are and if i tell them they look at me like im crazy.

haha yea, hes still got his colt 1911 70 series. he says thats the gun he wants to be buried with. it took a lot for him to even look at any guns with plastic on them. now he owns a few that do.

I just got my 19 as my first gun but now that I have something to shoot, I'll definitely be out. Just gotta keep my eye open for when they happen.

thats how I am with my TRP, I was a plastic gun guy when I started... Got my first 1911 (my TRP) and have never found a gun I like nearly as much... as a matter of fact, once I got my 1911 I started shooting like **** with my glocks and sold most of them off

When things slow down at work a bit so I can actually think straight and I finally buy all the camera gear I need (want lol), I'm definitely going 1911 shopping.

yea i gotta put some money away for a 1911. i had one(1911 loaded springfield) that i got for a really good deal. put a box of rounds through it and sold it for more then what i got it for(funded my first machine gun). i been thinking about picking up a springfield loaded long slide.

I wish I had a 1911. Next on my list is a 12g though. I don't currently own a shotgun and that's just a disgrace.

nice, I am putting money away to buy my buddy and trust partner a SA loaded 1911, he sold his taurus (which really wasnt that bad) and has always wanted another one (1911 not taurus specifically)


rodder, how do you not have a 12ga??? my mossy tactical cruiser (the one we all had a blast with at the last group shoot) was like 300 bucks... just man up and do it!

damn man you gotta get one, there cheap fun. i had the saiga s17 out a few weeks back shooting buckshot out of it. its got a good amount of kick with only a 8 inch barrel. my buddy wanted to try it out. i top the mag off with the buckshot, well only the first two rounds, the rest of rifled slugs. he shot the first two rounds off and was like this isnt too bad. lets just say that was the only mag he shot out of it.

I was trying to hold out for a saiga, but it seems in the past month or so they have become either impossible to find or ridiculously over priced.

A ND is a big deal, but what's very important is what you learn from it. Forget what happened, focus on what's going to be different from here on out.

Combo of both. Yeah, everything is okay. The main walls of my apartment have concrete in them, so the bullet didn't travel outside of my place. It did however go though four partition walls, a door, and a the wooden frame of a picture I had hanging on the wall.

Some would say AD = mechanical failure (not your fault), ND = human error (your fault). I just assumed and wrote "ND". Hopefully everyone is alright though, which is also something I just assumed since he posted about it.

Let us know Brian. I shot with you at the range so I know you're a safe gun handler and a safe shooter. I know whatever happened was just a strange incident.

Nope. It was on an upward trajectory and I think it is somewhere in the ceiling. I would love retrieve it though. I'll post pictures in a little bit.

thats why i asked, if it was a true AD (as in bad ammo,etc) I would like to know what type of ammo, etc. I think there is a huge difference between an AD and a ND

Yeah, thankfully everybody was okay. It was so loud and smokey though, it set off my smoke alarms lol

I gotta be honest, these concrete walls are really quiet. Like 3 minutes after it happened, I went next door to my neighbors aprtment (the direction the bullet was headed) to make sure everybody was okay. He had no idea what I why I was asking. I asked if he heard anything and he said he heard nothing at all... I was shocked because my .40 is far from a quiet gun..


As far as what happened, I pulled the trigger without checking the chamber indicator. I always remove the round from the chamber before I put the gun in the holster and in my drawer, but apparently yesterday I never unloaded it...

All I know is that I will not have a magazine the gun while it is in my apartment... I'm just lucky nobody got hurt..

Well I carry Hornady Critical Defense rounds in my .40.... those things have power behind them.

i think not having a mag in the gun defeats the idea of home protection, but clearly whatever makes you more comfortable... what you did was a serious NOOB move and im sure your beating yourself up over it (as you should).. live and learn right! and be thankful you and nobody else got hurt.

Yeah, I'm a little pissed at myself right now...

As for the mag situation, I know I'll end up storing it in the gun like usual, but I just want let a day or two go by.. a little nervous right now...

that makes sense, the rule I live by (any my friends think i am crazy) is i take mag from gun, eject chambered round, rack slide a few times, lock slide back and hold it up to light so i can see the light from the back of the gun through the barrel... it may be a bit excessive but i'd rather be safe than sorry!

Its impressive you had the balls to post about this experience and I am sure it will help many (or at least me) be EXTRA careful!

You're not crazy, that's exactly what I do. No matter the situation, if I need to unload, I make 100% sure it's unloaded. My dad taught me that since I was little.

Forget the chamber indicator... always do a press check. Just really really try to get yourself in the habit of doing it every time. Even if I'm watching TV, etc. and messing with my gun, which I know to be 100% unloaded, I press check after every time I set it down or even stop for a while. I felt like I was being ridiculously over cautious about it but I got over it. I won't ever touch a gun at the range, at home, or anywhere without first press-checking it. 100% eyes-on-chamber to verify loaded or empty is the only thing that works, other than at night or low light where I press and then put a finger in the chamber to feel loaded/unloaded. I hate loaded chamber indicators.

Also, for now you may be more comfortable without a mag in and a round in the chamber, which is just fine, but as Dave said, it defeats the purpose of keeping a gun around for self defense. Give it time, but definitely go about things as you did before once you settle down a bit. As I've said before in this thread, I'm a firm believer in 'round in chamber with no safety' at all times. Let training be your safety. You don't necessarily have to go pay for training, just train yourself to handle guns with many forms of safety redundancy. Beat yourself up about it (within reason), and then make a positive change. You can only get better.

DUDE!!! First of all... Rule #2!!! WTF were you doing with your finger on the trigger??? :jawdrop: I hope you were dry firing and not just fingering the trigger for no reason.

Second of all, DO NOT RELY ON A LOADED CHAMBER INDICATOR!!!! The only way to be 100% sure a gun is unloaded is to lock the slide open and both visually and physically inspect the chamber to make sure there is no round in it. Racking the slide AT LEAST TWICE will let you know if you forgot to eject the mag first.

I don't mean to come off harsh, but gun owners have a responsibility to be as safe as possible, not only for the sake of people nearby, but for the sake of the public's perceived image of gun owners in general.

Well, the mag is back in the gun. From now on, I will ALWAYS do a press check.. As for carrying without a round in the chamber, that is something that I would never do. Defeats the whole point of carrying..

This was def a wake up call... I'm just glad that nobody got hurt.

Just got back from 4.5 hours at the range with a few SBR's, suppressors and a Armalite 50cal. My guns seem so inadequate right now. :(

How we spent the morning today. (more pics/vids to come once CK gets them to me) There was a bunch of suppressed stuff there too. Hopefully CK got the pics/vids of it. A few things to note before I get a bunch of comments. This was CK's first time ever at the range or with any gun. We gave him some instruction on safety, etiquette, and technique beforehand. Also we were shooting the 50cal on the short range just to do a quick and easy zeroing for the scope. We took it down to the big range shortly thereafter and spent the rest of the time there with it.

CK is in love :lol: Jay is drifty240 here (doesn't post much). We were at Oley Fish & Game. I'm Jay too btw but everyone just calls me Munky. :rofl:

I will definitely have to bring something out to one of these meets. We typically have a group of 6-8 at that hit target world on Friday nights but would like to meet some new shooters and try some new toys.

wow glad to hear no one was hurt. I was younger and stupid and did something like that. I have the scar to remind me of why you should never play with guns. my pinky finger has never recovered full feeling either.

in other sad news. sold the glock 23, I'll have to shoot it before I give it to the new owner.

In other news I received my Lone Wolf extended slide lock & release today after I got home from the range and installed them right away on my G19. :inlove:

I posted it in this thread a few pages back about thinking about selling it. sorry I didn't know you were looking. its rather nice never jammed always clean 3.5# ghost trigger connector. its been a good gun. if I run across one I'll let you know.

I'm picking one up next week because our schedules couldn't match up before then. But I would have gladly bought one off of someone on here instead.
