Yea basically only way to get it is spend 15-17/box at a gun shop or get real lucky and find it at walmart for $10 or so. This is 9mm. I have not seen 9mm at walmarts around here for months. I got lucky and purchased 4 boxes when I was up near State College.

the internet never runs out of ammo!

very true... now go into the shooting on 422 thread and drop some knowledge.

DC2.2GSR 04-12-2010 12:53 AM

the trouble with buying online is that you're almost required to buy in bulk. at a store you can buy a box or two at a time. personally i don't have $300+ to drop all at once on a 1000 round case of .40S&W from Gunbroker or elsewhere online, and i bet not many other people do either. i buy one 50 rd box of Federal 180 grain FMJ at walmart every friday (payday). it costs $14.81 each time. it still works out to $0.30/round, the same as on Gunbroker, but the difference is that i can make it part of my budget per month and i don't have to spend such a huge chunk at once. that's why i still buy in stores.

for months now i have yet to see less that 2500 rounds of 9mm on the walmart shelf at one time. each time i go in i count the 100 rd WWB boxes and i consistently see 25+ boxes, PLUS all the 50 rd boxes of other stuff... easily 3000+ rounds on the shelf evey day. the .40 and .45 are less plentiful, but there's still plenty. Dicks sporting goods always has comparable amounts too.

i split cases w a friend to make it more affordable... i feel ya though

"I have only once been asked, "Why do you feel the need to carry a gun?" My response was to point out that the question arose from 2 false assumptions.
1) It is not a "feeling";
2) It is not a "need"
Should I choose one day to carry an umbrella, it is not because I am afraid of the rain. It is because I prefer to remain dry on a particular day when rain is expected, and I consider the burden of an umbrella to be acceptable."

seriously made my night!

i wanted to smash my face against a wall reading some of the **** being posted there... it seriously blows my mind. i have a feeling proven is going to come back with some remark about that guy being paranoid..

glad to hear it.

yeah there's no doubt he'll come back with some remark, and i hope he does. i'll gladly explain to him why he is 100% dead wrong. i can respect a difference in opinion, but there's a point when it's no longer a respectable opinion and it becomes stupidity. it then deserves to be pointed out and corrected.

Those are real finicky with the ammo that they will run. I've had success with Walmart bulk Remington stuff but some other people don't. You might have to try a few different kinds of .22lr to figure out what will function best. I still get a lot of FTF and FTE with mine. Great for practicing malfunction drills, you don't even need snap caps since the damn thing is so unpredictable.

I've read about the ammo issues. Unfortunately I already picked up 100 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet. We will see what happens. :)

Got to fire my buddy's AR15 yesterday. Damn is that a fun shooter. Had a really nice EOTech sight on it.

Now I need to sell a kidney.

what shop are you going to? i was at classic pistol yesterday for the first time and they had some FNs, not sure which since i know nothing about FNs. lol i wanted to hold one but i forgot all about it.

i talked to a guy named Jim who seemed pretty cool. all of the employees i saw were very cocky and opinionated, but alright nonetheless. one guy, with a bald/shaved head kept picking up the guns in the case. he'd rack the slide, point at the floor, and dry fire each one a few times and just put it back. maybe he was just really bored? lol.

my buddy and i ended up each getting a Desantis "Tuck This", him for his G30SF and me for my M&P... the same part number for both guns. i put mine on for the car ride home, but when he got his out back at his house it looked like it was made for a Ruger LCP! i mean, that thing is mini! we just picked two off the shelf without checking the part inside. the part numbers on the package matched so one would assume...?

it's an hour and 15 min to get there so i'm about to call them to make sure they have the right one in stock before i make the trip back. hopefully i can get up there today to get the right one. it's a nice holster overall, but the mag pouch on the holster is a little gimmicky. it's a nice thought, but my 10 rd m&P mag sits about 2 inches below my waistline. not too practical. lol. maybe with a 15 round full size M&P mag?

gtsiawd96 04-14-2010 10:15 AM

I've never actually been in this thread, mostly becuase I have never fired a real gun before, honeslty it never really interested me before. Well my friend took me out shooting the other day, showed me the ropes saftey, how to load/unload, properly fire, etc. What a GREAT f**cking time!! We were shooting his handgun. A glock not sure of the exact model, but it had a little umph. I want to say .40 if that makes sense. The first couple shots really kind give you real feeling with what your dealing with and how dangerous guns really can be in the wrong hands. But I'm hooked now. I'll be heading down to the local police station get all the proper paper work. Pretty cool.

NICE! it's great to see more people getting involved. it's a hell of a lot of fun and if you carry, it gives you a completely new outlook on life. honestly, it's a crazy experience overall. i'm also glad to hear you were taught by someone who knows what they're doing. it sounds like something your parents would preach, but seriously firearm safety at even the most basic level is the most important thing. be VERY strict with how you handle firearms right from the beginning.. follow every safety rule to the T and soon it will become second nature.

the people who post in this thread a lot probably get sick of me linking to this site all the time, but here it comes anyway... PAFOA.org (Pennsylvania Firearm Owner's Association). i figure it's better for someone to get the correct info to you right away instead of waiting until you hear something incorrect somewhere else. join the forum and read as much as you possibly can. there's so much info over there, it's ridiculous. they'll steer you in the right direction for anything you want to know.

as a little side note... if you want to get your LTCF and carry concealed, you'll want to visit the sheriff in your county, not the local police station. here's a quick link to some info about the process: Concealed Carry in PA

**edit - wow, i just realized you're in NJ. that's a no-go on carrying concealed. lol. not sure what paperwork you were referring to, i just assumed you meant paperwork to be allowed to carry. PAFOA still has tons of great info on it relating to all aspects of gun ownership. read up and enjoy.

gtsiawd96 04-14-2010 10:55 AM

Thanks for the info! I will definitly be reading up. I'm currently in New Jersey I have heard the rules are much stricter. But I have a clean record so I don't think it will be a problem. When I have time I'll go back through this thread and read up too. Seems like alot of you guys know your stuff about weapons.

Starting off the only part I knew was "Don't ever point the gun at anyone....ever" common sense. ha. Believe me after shooting the other day it was real eye opener. Safety is key, couldn't agree more.

O yah. Guns are alot louder in person. Stupid movies.
