If that were the case I would park the car for a long time. I think I didn't tighten the rad cap enough.

piku 06-16-2009 10:38 PM

The caps can go bad too. In my case in my old Beretta it was bad cap AND blown head gasket ;) My bimmer consumed coolant instead of spewing it though when it went. I suppose it all depends on where the failure is.

russiankid 06-16-2009 10:40 PM

I never had a problem till today I noticed the level was much higher than usual. The cap is fairly new(9k miles on it), however I am always afraid to over tighten the cap so it doesn't break the radiator. Hopefully thats the issue, if not I have a spare cap.

Don't forget transmission oil ;) I actually had a dream last night that I just built an engine and started it (strangely without a car, but it's a dream right). I walked away for a minute and came back to scraping noises and glowing red exhaust because apparently in my dream I forgot to put in oil or coolant. I don't know what I'd put coolant into since it was just an engine on a stand but it's a dream right? haha.

piku 06-17-2009 10:23 AM

Oh lol I remember in my dream I joked "the assembly lube has to be good for at least a couple hours of running right?"
