Good, but if your dad has a D80, you may want to keep that in mind. That way for christmas gifts you could buy him a lens and you could use it on your camera as well, haha.

Do some more research that is not a true statement by any means....

Fixed.

Canon owns over 60% of the DSLR market.

either way like i said before, I am gonna get a camera and take random shot's of things and play with the setting's

Canon and Nikon have been competing for the top spot in the DSLR class of cameras. There are companies that make cameras that outperform them (Mamiya, Hasselblad, etc...), but they come along with a mortgage. I would LOVE to get my hands on a Hasselblad H3DII-50 to play with and see how big I can print the photos. Unfortunately, the H3DII is WAY out of my price range right now.

There are people who are brand biased, but in reality, each company offers their products that may outperform the other in certain aspects.

That's something you'd get if you were real serious into photography, What kind of camera's do people use for like Modified Magazine, Superstreet, etc some of them use Canon and Nikon right, That's like my ultimate goal is to shoot photo's for them and like Nopi etc. basically big name people JTuned does a nice job with his Picture's, I believe his name is Eric

CleanNeon98 11-30-2008 09:28 PM

Most are using prosumer and pro bodies, ie Canon 40D, 1Ds MKII, 1Ds MKIII, 1D MKIIn, 1D MKIII, Nikon D200, D300, D80, etc. A few still use the entry level bodies, though.

That's what I kinda figured, that's way out of my league for now though. I need to go to a camera shop to find figure out what I like and more comfortable with.

i like rice 11-30-2008 10:13 PM

Used prosumer bodies are affordable, ie Canon 20D for about $380-400 or Canon 30D for $420-450 and more than capable. The prosumer bodies have larger viewfinders, 2nd wheel for quicker and easier adjustments, beefier bodies, and are larger so they're comfortable to hold, especially with heavier lenses.

Maybe I should create a Poll and ask people what they vote for. Put a few camera's in it or just make it NONSLR or SLR, for first camera, and see what vote's i get, what do you recommend I get, I was recommend by TurboDSM the Canon Rebel Xti, and I think you mention'd the G10

i like rice 11-30-2008 10:45 PM

You have to decide what you want. If you want sharp images without spending $700-1000, a P&S will do fine. If you get an SLR, the kit lens will be slow and soft so don't expect too much as far as image quality. You'll have to spend ~ $300-400 for a decent wide angle zoom lens.
