i just need a good, cheap drift car.

Ciotti 04-20-2009 03:24 PM

Anything rear wheel drive can be a "drift car" if you want to drink the kool aid and get the "best" drift car then you need to be looking for a 240. If it were me, I would just be looking at all rear wheel drive cars and figuring out which one I like the looks of best, see if you can get a good deal on it, and then you build it to do what you want.

Vinny 04-20-2009 03:30 PM

Ciotti I completely agree.

Anything rwd is definitally a slide-able car, but if you want a cheap project drift car, it's definitally a 240.
80% of the "new" parts on my car are used parts from other 240 owners and they're holding up great.

But, a short wheel based automobile such as a miata is harder to control during a slide. It's more likely to spin out unless setup properly.

Am I wrong?

Looks like the weather is going to be nice tuesday night. woohoo!

06njsti 04-20-2009 03:34 PM

i got a call about the sti today. The motor is together and should be back in the car mid week. hopefully shes back at the body shop by the end of the week. Idk why it takes even a regular mechanic shop soo long to do this. idk i guess its just how they work haha.

I will be taking a ride to the body shop this week if the car is back there. I will take some pics hopefully of the car with the new tires on it, can you say 275's all the way around?

the weather people said no rain by 10am, and sunny by noon

so never trust the weather people. looking at hourly weather a day in advance isnt gonna tell you much. look the day of, when the weatherpeoples have a better chance at guessing right

I don't know if I would say it's harder to control, but it will be very different to control. The short wheel base and light weight will make it quicker to initiate the angle and then touchier to maintain it because the shorter wheelbase rotates around faster. Inputs to maintain the drift will need to me much quicker but there will be more feedback from the car so one thing will sort of be harder but then it will be made easier so it's sort of a wash.

I've been told you're not going to paint all your CF body parts. That's no good Gary, paint 'em.

armyguy6566 04-20-2009 05:05 PM
