It should be a crime against humanity to modify such a low mileage DSM, how do you look at yourself in the mirror at night?

With that being said SICK CAR!

How, let me put it to you like this. I didn't want to put 50 grand into a hacked up rust bucket like most of the dsms that are on the road...how's that for an answer?

HaveBlue83 11-04-2011 07:43 AM

there is no "DSM" museum. nobody outside of us cares about these cars. were are the rejects that are faster than everyone else.

run em all hard as ****. thats obv what the designers intended by releaseing a 400+ capable car stock motor...and usually ALL of them over 100k

Common man I bought my shell for like 1000 bucks and it has 0 rust. with probably like 100K on it. I'm sure there is a lot of rust free shells out there.

Im just saying if it was me I wouldn't be able to mod/cut/weld a roll cage and **** into such a low mileage and show room condition shell that looks so clean.

Maybe I'm just a DSM/Mitsubishi puritan, when I had a 1G Vr-4 with 46,000miles on it I couldnt even bring myself to keep it because of all the worries I had other asshole drivers that pose a risk on the car. Anyways the car is def sick and good luck with your goals in 2012.

dude... its just a car... and a mitsubishi at that, its not like he hacked up a 57 vette or pristine roadrunner with no miles on it.

blackvr4 11-04-2011 03:08 PM

To me its like a part of history. If your sinking 50Gs into a DSM your never going to see that money back no matter if the shell has 5,000 miles or 150,000 miles. So why not just keep pristine examples of history pristine? You can take any shell that has no rust and make it look like a brand new car. I prolly just hold mitsubishis to a lot higher of a level than most people, i dont even know why.

I agree with you a 100%. Those old American cars are famous because there are rare survivors still found and it's hard to beleive. In today's world no one cares for **** and there isn't many nice unmolested "tuner" cars out there. I'm not committed to say one day people will be paying mega-bucks for the few that survive but i'm sure in 20 years if a nice LOW mileage 1g pops up we'd all go crazy for it. Who knows maybe one of us would be lucky enough to purchase it for a price more then it cost when new and continue to keep it clean.

Shearer_Tsi 11-04-2011 04:40 PM

I just don't see the point in dumping money into a car that is beat, you show me where these ultra clean shells are? I didn't hack anything in this car, there is not cage welded into it. Maybe shep is wrong for having a clean car, his was brand new when he started modding it. I just don't see the logic in dumping money into a car that is beat. Hey if thats your thing knock yourself out but don't put me down because I started with a clean car.

knochgoon24 11-05-2011 03:03 AM

If I were going to drop that kind of cash on building a car, I would start with the cleanest shell I could afford. There's no point in starting with a POS. Let the ricers have those beat ones.

That said, I've decided that with 257,000 miles on my car, nothing on it is sacred anymore. I just sold my Evo wheels and tires to go with some 17x10 or 18x10 rims next year. Can you say fender flares and 275s? :) I'll need something like a +15mm offset and 2" fender flares.

Shearer_Tsi 11-05-2011 03:13 AM

I don't even know how this turned into a question of why or you shouldn't have done that. I've never told someone that they shouldn't have built a car because of the milage.

Weren't we all just popping boners over Shep's car not too long ago? If I remember correctly, it's a pretty clean, low mileage shell with easily $75K through it at this point, and strictly a drag car. Sounds kinda familiar, right?

Shearer, carry on, dude. Car is ****ing radical!

Shearer_Tsi 11-05-2011 10:04 AM

Thank you, can't wait to get it out on the street for some honda hunting.

honda hunting? lmao this isn't 2004 anymore. Evo and GT-R hunting is the new thing.

Shearer_Tsi 11-05-2011 12:11 PM

Yeah we don't have any GT-Rs around here lol. A couple of vipers and a few Z06 vettes lol

I know you have no cage welded in but as your build diary shows you are planning to go 8s with the car, and I don't know how your planning to do it cageless.

If you really want to get logical about things I dont see the point of dumping any large amounts of money into a DSM, because in the end 90% of the time it ends up getting sold piece by piece.

Not even searching but clicking the first thread on talk. Car needs a windshield and a small dent on the roof fixed, no big deal and if I was building an 8 second car I'd be using lexan windows anyways.

And I def wasn't trying to put you down I was just simply stating that I personally could never EVER mod a running DSM with such low mileage. But either way man good luck with it. Hopefully the car stays in your possession forever, I don't want you to view my posts as some sort of pissing match.

Also just an FYI, Shep's car is Buschars old car so its not like it wasn't already modded. Buschar has been into DSMs for 2 decades now when he was buying DSMs there were hundreds of clean running DSMs with low mileage.

Shearer_Tsi 11-07-2011 04:27 PM

Dave Buschur's evo goes that fast..no cage. I'm not sure why people think my car is a drag/track only car. The car is a street car. If you don't think so well then that's your conclusion you are drawing...from what I have no idea. I respect everyone's input. I am also aware of where shep's car came from.

You saying Shep's car was "brand new when he started modding it", didnt really demonstrate to me that you knew where it came from, hence why I wanted to clear that up.

And you are right about BadBish going that fast cageless/no chute how he doesn't get the boot is beyond my understanding of NHRA track rules and regulations, maybe he is a strong sponsor of the summit raceway track thus the rules do not apply to him? I am not sure.

Shearer_Tsi 11-07-2011 04:58 PM

I know john well. There are no regulations at the shootout

Anyways, Back to DSM related discussions. I was able to get into atco without a jacket! The guy just asked me if I had a helmet and didnt even look twice at the car.

However my times where not good at all The best I got that night was a 12.51@117.9. :(

Not sure what is wrong with the car I am running 30psi on pump and 630cc/min meth. Car is around 11.0-11.2 AFR with 22-23* peak timing.

Anybody have any guesses? I did a boost leak test before I went to the track and I just had 1 unfixable small leak at the base of my FORGE BOV. lame.

kthackst 11-07-2011 06:36 PM

What was the compression in the engine last time you checked? Engine mods?
