That's where I'm at. I mean, I'm not happy with the way this site is ran in certain aspects. But that's fine, it's not my site and I'm not expecting changes just because I asked (although I'm seeing many people feel the same way and I'm sure there are plenty more that do as well). But it's starting to look like I can't even vent about it without being told to "contact a mod". I don't know...this place is just getting to be a little ridiculous. But hey, that's just my $.02.

I don't mean to be like, the suck up in school that everyone hated....

But you have to remember Troll ultimately owns this site, he started it, he's the reason it's here. If he wants it run a certain way, he's going to run it a certain way, and there's not much to be done about it. For all non-vendors, non-paying members, you're using this site for free, and (most of the time) you're having fun/making jokes, whatever. It's frustrating when you feel the penalties for going off-topic, but there's a lot of things in the world you can't change - but I bet you manage to abide by whatever rules there are in life too.

TROLL 11-21-2008 02:36 PM

If I could, I would boot up another forum called www.justonethread.com and I would dump all of off topic into that, in a single thread. You wouldnt be able to start a new thread, only post in that one... that would be pretty awesome to read wouldn't it?
I know its an exaggerated case, but thats basically why staying on topic and just starting a new thread for a new subject makes sense. Keep the clutter out, keep it clean, easy to read and navigate, etc.
For those who think off topic is different now than it was before, refer to the sticky at the top of the forum called 'off topic is now on topic' which was posted... years ago.

Genuine, respectful concerns are always welcome, although they should go in the feedback section. We are always interested in (respectful) concerns from members and I do my best to make sure that they are tended to. I do make the final call on things, but I am 100% open to accepting any and all ideas regarding the forum and think that is a great way for us to grow and improve with time. Unfortunately a lot of times this kind of feedback is lost in a sea of disrespectful comments and that is not something we are going to receive well or take the time with.

Myself and the moderating team want exactly what most of you want, really... we're all on the same side here.

mrchariybrown 11-21-2008 02:42 PM

although I'm not a fan of the style this forum is moderated, I respect the fact that they treat everyone equally.

To be blunt... troll is not the reason... we are. Everyone... you, me, troll, etc. This is a forum, an online community. Without us, it would be gone... without troll it would be gone.

I can gaurantee that if troll decided to shut this place down another forum would be create.d. that is not to say that I don't appreciate this place... I'm just voicing fact... a community based website relies more heavily on its users than it does on its owner. Just an internet fact

twastheglow 11-21-2008 02:45 PM

I started a new thread for you Troll. I'm trying to do what you asked...honestly.

arkadyzv 11-21-2008 02:46 PM

I'm going to play the devils advocate and say that its Tristate "Tuners" not Tristate "Off Topic". There's honestly way better offtopic forums for everyone who has issues with the way **** is, like SOT or Genmay. If anything most of the people here are on SOT also.

I rarely post but have been on here and going to meets for a while, its the way **** is, I don't see why people think anything is going to change. Its a general car forum after all, off topic is just a sub-forum.

I agree. But this is regarding the Off Topic section. Not going off topic in all the other sections.

I understand that, in the end though my take on is that, off-topic= non-car related ****. But in the end if a thread is started with a certain subject, it shouldn't turn into a cluster****.

I completely agree, the thing is, once again its a car site, the regulars and new members come for car related content, meets, help, info ,etc. Not for the off topic, if all the people who have a problem left, it wouldn't matter, because everyone that comes here for car **** would still be here. I think most of the people who have had issues with over moderation in off topic have all moved onto other places like SOT, everyone else that came here for the tuners aspect has stayed.
