i bought my dad a black one, but he wanted a tan one so i stole the black one from him and ordered a tan one.

i like the serated part, good for cutting rope or sawing some stuff up. i dont know how to make this knife any better, the sharpener is awesome too. how is it on your backback strap? its pretty uncomfortable to wear so im just gonna throw it in the pack, most likely without the straps. are you able to get the buckle on the handle to snap? i can only get the top one. this knife has a comfortable handle, and the best sheath i ever seen in my life. i really wanted the green one but they only sell it with the safety cutter kit, and its like 50 to 100 bucks more, i think mostly because its IR resistant or whatever. you can order online without the safety cutter pretty cheap but it seems fishy. probably no box, used or something.

post pics of your set up with the blade and cord, how did you cut it anyway? oh yeah i always see you on random forums lol.

haha yeah i'm always out and about on lots of forums using the same name. i have some older pics of the blade but i don't know where. i'm at a friend's house now but when i get home (sometime lol) i'll try to get some pics of the setup. i actually don't use any part of the drop leg setup. i see that as pretty useless unless i was in the USMC running around in the desert or something. lol. i'm using just the rubberized sheath part itself and i have the 1" nylon strap of the backpack shoulder strap running through the hole at the tip of the sheath down through the black part retention part. it lets the knife snap in and sit flush with my body as i'm carrying it. the handle is down and the blade forward so all i have to do to 'deploy' it is reach my right arm up to a 90 deg angle, grab the handle, and pull. reverse to put it back in the sheath very easily. it really works well. the black plastic retention clip holds the knife in perfectly, you don't even need to use the snaps on the drop leg.. they just get in the way.

not sure what you mean by 'how did i cut it', but if you mean the blade re-profiling i did it on my bench grinder with some fine Norton wheels and some fine paper on a vertical belt sander. that also let me convex the edge to make it stronger. as i said, it's an outdoor knife only and i treat it pretty rough. i needed the blade to stand up to a lot of abuse. so far the S30V steel has been great. all it takes is a few minutes on the gatco sharpening kit to bring back the edge. also, the polishing job isn't perfect, just wanted to get the black finish off of it so i can wd40 it when batonning wood and have it slide through nicely.

legal and registered? are you from NY or something? PA has no (legal) registration. the PA state police keeps an illegal database based off of new gun sales but that's it.

yeah the leg straps i took off, they dont even tighten up enough for my lower leg lol, plus its extremely uncomfortable, thats a good idea with sliding the strap through the rubber sheath part instead of the nylon, its alot less bulky. i still might keep it so i can use it on my belt, but i might try that pack strap method now.

i think my next hunting pack is going to have molle straps lol. we were gonna do a unguided hunt and pack all of our stuff in without horses and just llamas, but were doing a guided hunt so we have llamas and horses, if we were going to do it unguided i was going to buy this pack, its custom made for your size, it takes 8 weeks to get delivered, its hard to justify the price though, around 5-600 bucks depending what you get

its pretty heavy for only 4000 cubic inches though, but its tough, i heard its not good enough for the money though. im using my gregory Z55 and a duffle bag for my trip, i just need to find a way to camo it up since its bright yellow

i've been looking for an M&P45C to try out for a while now, still haven't seen one in person though. i think i'll like how it's a little bigger than the 9mm and the .40 frame. at first i was considering the M&P40C, but i'm not sure that i like how tiny they are. same goes for the Glock 26 (9) and 27 (.40).. they're real little. the Glock 30/30SF (.45) is a larger frame but still the same basic size, Glock's 'subcompact' model... it fits my hand real well.

She followed me home from the Valley Forge gun show yesterday. Remington 870 wingmaster 12 gauge with 6 shell tube and moss 500 18" barrel. $200 : )
