So i have a HUGE update on the STI. I saw her today and spoke to the mechanic, turns out she was fine. The timing belt didnt jump at all and i have great compression across the board, they could have her back by next week but I told them to hold off and I ordered a timing belt and some other 60k maintenance parts today while the motor is out. I should have all them parts in the mail by next monday. Im hoping the car will be back at the body shop by mid april for paint and to get sheet metal installed. heres the pics of the motor out

wait gary is this a shell or is that ur car? if thats ur car, u have have the motor pulled to do timing belt if so thats nuts.

btw saw this on craigslist. rich maybe this is a better route for u pal.

thats my car and not a shell. They did the compression test with the motor in the car then pulled it to make sure the timing didnt skip. Since they have the motor out i figure i might as well atleast do my timing belt since i broke all the plastic covers for it. The motor was out so they could have a better look at it and see if it took any impact.

pull the motor to check the timing? i really hope thats not the reason they pulled the motor...

From the pictures I have it will show I destroyed my alternator, ac condensor and everything else in the front of my engine bay. We weren't sure if any that hit the motor or bent/broke anything with the intake manifold/tgv's ect. Since the deer didn't hit my frame or bumper the body shop and mechanics shop believed the motor took the bulk of the impact and wanted to make sure everything was ok

EDIT: Also to get technical the timing did jump but did not jump enough to throw the timing off. Apparently with AVCS you can jump up to 7* of timing and not damage anything and that was what happened in my case
