enjoy it and be carefull!

Yeah Ryan it is my carry weapon. I'm a big guy and while its a bigger pistol it's not noticeable, my other carry pistol was a S&W 9mm with a 4.5in barrel and no one noticed it on me.

I bought the other ammo for range activity.

Cool, that's what I was wondering -- if they acted/fired any differently than 'regular' ammo. Didn't think so but figured I'd ask.

XDs are nice... And no-****ing-way I'd goto cabellas.
I bought it from a fellow car-guy and friend at American Shooting Sports in Broadheadsville.

I'd buy from SnipercountryPX.com too (in pottsville) as well.

Both places have reasonable pricing and good people working there.

HAHAHAHA!! Figured as much just looked like their counter. Where abouts in broadheadsville is it? I went to school up there.

Good purchase.. that is a large gun to conceal.. but if it fits comfortably and you can access it quickly.. then lol

cszakolczai 08-04-2009 01:12 PM

Shot a G21 a few times, I like it, but its just a hell of a lot of gun, I have big hands but for some reason the 21 isn't my favorite. I'm picking up a Glock 23 in the next couple of months, or if money is available, a Sig P229.

won't 100 rounds go pretty quickly? haha

Glock 23 is sweet.. both the 21 and 23 have stopping power for sure with the .45 and .40 caliber respectively.. with the ability to hold up to 14 bullets if you chamber one first, then pop a full mag in.. heh.. not bad for self defense at all. I think the Glock 37.. .45 very compact.. 6 rounds? that's not a bad option too if you have a tough time concealing a larger handgun.

that's the 36 you're thinking of. it's glock's "slimline" single stack subcompact 45. the regular double stack subcompact .45ACP (like the 26 in 9mm and the 27 in .40S&W) is the 30, which gives you 10+1. they also make the 30SF (short frame), which is a few mm shorter from backstrap to trigger. a friend of mine is actually buying a 30SF tomorrow at Cabelas. it's a real nice weapon. i'm not a huge fan of glock overll, but it's still nice.

yes, ordinarily i'd tell him to spend his money locally instead of at cabelas, but John at Seneca Arms in green lane is on vacation this week and my friend wants the gun now. Seneca is the only local i'd give buisness to, so cabelas it is. i've had a lot of great experiences at the cabelas gun counter, so i don't feel bad. they've helped me out a lot.

I agree, although I am not really looking to purchase the 23 for self defense. I enjoy going to the range and I can get my hands on .40 caliber ammo much easier. 9mm is no where to be found, and .45 is to much for me.

doug 08-04-2009 01:52 PM

Yeah.. 9mm is literally non-existant. .40 is definitely a fun range gun.. as is the .45 lol.

Bane 08-04-2009 02:14 PM

look around on gunbroker and ar15.com etc I just got 1000rds of 9mm for 225 shipped

Seven 08-04-2009 02:57 PM

I need to find where I can get a good deal on range rounds.

cszakolczai 08-04-2009 03:37 PM

Yeah, the 9mm craze is a little ridiculous. .40 seems very good even though I hear a lot of guys call it the lost child between 9mm and .45 caliber. But thanks Bane, I'll check that out.

den9 08-04-2009 04:39 PM

i was gonna say hopefully u didnt overpay for that at cabelas..... how much did you pay anyway?

if anyone is looking for ammo you can find 9mm a box at claytons in horsham for 11 bucks, its 2 box limit so dont drive an hour for it lol.

the mike 08-04-2009 09:45 PM

Got to fire a Magnum 500 this weekend. Holy crap.

You need to be on your game holding this thing. Bruised my palm. Laughed my ass off though. Talk about a hand cannon.

Looking to see what the legality of getting an AK in Jersey is. There was a guy shooting one next to us at the range. So badass.

den9 08-04-2009 10:04 PM

they will probably make you weld a rod in the barrel and paint the muzzle tip orange.

I went to American Shooting Sports in Broadheadsville.
Paid $540 + the cost of night sights, the holster/paddle, 100 rounds of winchester .45 auto, and 50 rounds of Federal hollow point .45 auto.
