Why..it's stupid and it happens all the time.

CHAOS 11-12-2008 02:30 PM

lol... why is it stupid?

twistedlanes 11-12-2008 02:34 PM

because instead of losing your money slowly you lose it all at once lol... I mean when you buy a car for say 25k brand new it's not like you can just go sell it for that again I mean unless it's a limited edition something or other or a civic. haha But really instead of doing that unless you plan on keeping it forever or something why buy i outright cash.

ASIAN JUL 11-12-2008 02:34 PM

i'm not scared to fight you jon!
you are a big teddy bear full of hugs and lulz
so shut your face

very true... the best you can hope for is to get out of there w/ no downpayment and a good apr.

i'm just saying that it wouldn't be an alright idea, i'm just saying how many people actually walk into a dealership with $35K in their pocket.

Yeah, but it's also cheaper that way because now you're not paying an interest rate. Think about it. If you save for three years to buy a car and after that three years you buy a car, fully paid in cash, then it's like you were paying payments the whole time but you just saved yourself a few hundred, if not a few thousand dollars.

omgjacki 11-12-2008 02:39 PM

You can walk in there with a personal check for $35k. It's the same thing.

its not cheaper, b/c not many people hold onto a car for the entire time they have a lien against it.

It can't be too uncommon..I only worked at a dealership for like 8 months and it happened twice not 35k both times tho. One dude walked in with ten cash and another dude a little more than 35 he bought two cars cash.

omgjacki 11-12-2008 02:46 PM

I see it all the time. I've been at Acura for a year and a half.

Kerplunk105 11-12-2008 02:47 PM

Thought this was kinda funny.

"Promises Message

Yesterday I ate an individually-wrapped Dove chocolate. On the inside of these candies' foil wrappers are little inspiring phrases called Promise Messages, not unlike the messages you find in fortune cookies, only written by Hallmark. Stuff like "Smile before bed, you'll sleep better" or "Write a letter, not an email" and crap like that. The message I got however was slightly disturbing:

"Age is nothing but a number."

I know what they're trying to say (you're only as old as you feel), but I think there are some people currently in jail who took this philosophy a little too literally. "

so your calling me retarded but your saying that losing 35k in one day is better than losing 40k over a 5 or 6 yr term....:bigeek:

shyt...if you get a nice 0% apr which they are giving out these days because of the economy then your not losing any money and you still have money left over that day or yr for mods..

the4g63 11-12-2008 02:53 PM

I'm planning on walking into an Infiniti dealership with 40k in my pocket in a little under a year. After dealing with the loan on my Evo, I realized it is the best way to buy a car. **** interest.
