Anything to get rid of that joke of an intercooler your car has stock.

There may be more coming in the spring and summer so I'd like to have things running safely. That and I'm tired of everyone asking me about it, the piece was cheap, and wont harm things down the line so why not.

Point 1.

Egay cores are worse than what you have now. There is a reason that quality parts are expensive. You should just save up for something that you'll never touch the limits of, and be done with it.

I beg to differ.
I had a spearco Intecooler and now I have a cheap Ebay cooler. I compared the cores side by side and honestly couldn't tell any difference between the two.

CleanNeon98 02-27-2009 06:55 PM

I ended up buying one from a different company because I had checkout issues with the original. Size is 27x5.5x2.5 with a 21 wide core.

I don't think this comes with clamps or hoses, not that I would use them anyway. While I am painting it (if I decide to do so) I will get in touch Extreme PSi about some reducer couplers and clamps

DPancoast 02-27-2009 07:14 PM

dont paint it. be blingin!

russiankid 02-27-2009 07:22 PM

I say leave it silver. It'll look better than black.

I also agree with your stock one not being to good. Not trying to rag on your ****, but my transmission cooler is the same size as your intercooler.

DPancoast 02-27-2009 07:30 PM

lol it is pretty small.

On top of that, that car is daily driven right??? Paint chips would not take long to accumulate and it would look like crap.

That's a worry of mine too.

I meant it more as a generaliztion. I try to support vendors that make quality pieces and that put R&D into them. I'm not saying that I'm going to spend stupid amounts of money on everything just to have a brand, but it's important to keep these companies going.

Alex, don't think I'm bashing you, I'm just saying that from experience, eBay is "buyer beware" central and is total hit-or-miss territory, especially with car parts. Mod how you'd like, and if it works for you, great, but if it doesn't, well, you can't say that there were no warnings. Good luck on whatever path you take.

justinlansdale 02-28-2009 04:39 AM

don't paint it!

TurboTagTeam 02-28-2009 04:53 AM

Pretty much all intercoolers with cast end-tanks suck. A real QUALITY intercooler will have sheetmetal endtanks. There's a reason why they are so expensive. They are a PITA to make. I hate welding intercoolers. They take so much pedal to heat up. In reality your welding a giant heat sink though...

Yea don't paint it. I'd say paint it for the sleeper look if you were making some horsepower

eBay intercooler cores, SSAC in particular aren't really that bad. As long as you pressure test them for leaks they should be fine. They are very popular in the cheapass DSM owner scene. It's cheaper then buying at ETS intercooler. Even though I'd love to buy an ETS one. :inlove:

disturbedfan121 02-28-2009 12:19 PM

my ebay IC works perfectly fine. 25x12x3 18" core. and was only like 100$ shipped from CXracing
