Oh I know there are plenty of places I could drive too I ment if I had enough property to have a range at my house instead of having to pack everything up and drive to the woods

Hey guys, legit question here. Im about to turn 21. My GF and I have a house in West Philly, where she goes to college. Its not a great area to say the least. Anyway im looking into getting a handgun of some sort. I dont know much about guns as far as owning, permits or anything like that. I believe in PA you can have a permit for a concealed, but I live in NJ, at least thats where my License is from. The gun is primarily for protection of my GF and I, and mabe the occasional gun range for target practice. If you're going to have one, might as well practice! Anyway, If there anyway I can get a concealed permit? Ide really like to have something on those late nights coming home from partys and what have you. Trying to do it the legal way, so im looking for legit help. Ide appreciate it! If you have other advice you dont want to share here, feel free to PM me. Thanks guys!

For PA a non resident CCW Permit that person has to have a CCW from their home state, and getting one from NJ...ha yea

Also on the party topic, if your drinking it would be wise to not have your gun on your hip

motorvated 06-01-2009 01:23 AM

Sorry, I was not to clear. If I was out partying I woudlnt care a handgun. But sometimes she goes out and I cant get to Philly until late. So i'll walk to get her wherever she is, and walk her home.

So is there no way for me to legally carry a handgun...damn

blkZ06 06-01-2009 01:37 AM

either become a cop or a PA resident, other than that no

My dad has a house in PA. Im thinking about switching everything to his house. No front plate would be nice too haha. Im going to look into it.

Hmm you might be getting yourself in trouble doing this but I could be wrong.

den9 06-01-2009 02:18 AM

switching all your stuff and address to your dads house isnt worth it for a handgun permit.

BugEyeGuy 06-01-2009 11:44 AM

I always go shootin with my pops I own tons of guns rifles and pistols but as for hand guns gotta love the 9mm kicks like a ****ing mule for a tiny pistol!

Bane 06-01-2009 11:51 AM

At first I didn't know what he was talking about, and then he said a 9mm kicked like a mule and then I really didn't know what he was talking about.

Wait if you have a house in Philly, why isn't that your address? Why switch to your dads? Why not just to YOUR house?

that's exactly what i was thinking. switch your address to PA. apply for LTCF. get LTCF. buy gun. go practice. carry gun. easy. as others have hinted already, you don't want to deal with NJ and guns. might as well forget about anything to do with it. they're a-holes.

You can apply for a Florida CCW license. This allows you to carry in a variety of states that have reciprocity agreements with FL. As others have indicated in NJ it is pretty much impossible at the current time, but in other surrounding states you can use reciprocity to carry. I think the current turn around is 100 days give or take. Good luck.
