I don't feel like uploading the other photos that are up close, you can see the other half of the lift laying on the ground in front of the car.

****, I have to go back to work (again) tomorrow....

I miss my vacation.

TROLL 01-05-2009 08:38 PM

Scape... to report back on the Iron Gym Pull Up Bar... assembly was easy. It hooks onto a door frame pretty easily. There was a slight creak from me ~6 year old doorframe in my ~6 year old house when I hung from it. I'd like to assume its not going to come down crashing on me, although it is quite a bit of weight to hang, even with me on it. I did a dozen or so pullups and no catastrophe's yet.
My biggest complaint is that the Iron Gym must have some sort of extra gravity orb surrounding it because pull ups are considerably harder on this bar than I remember them being way back when when I used to do them all the time. (Har har).

now that i looked closer, there actually is a very shallow indentation on the side of the door frame where the pullup bar rests, but unless it gets worse it is borderline microscopic.
and on the other side above the horizontal part of the frame on the wall each upper corner left a black mark on my white paint... again very minor and could be wiped off i bet.
i'm not entirely pleased with these findings but they're minor so i'll keep using it and see how things go. they are very minor at this point but i also only have about a minute on the thing so far.

~Brian~ 01-05-2009 10:13 PM

^Well that doesn't sound too bad then. I wouldn't leave it there too long though, otherwise you might damage the door.

hmm... i rent, and would hate to have to pay for the possible replacement of these ****ty doors here :-/

R_Rambo 01-05-2009 10:21 PM

check your door trim if its wood i would be kindy iffy about it, good chance its dry-rotted and yea your gonna do some damage. idk the age of place your at but for awhile this had plastic material was popular for trim i would imagine if you had that it would be fine that stuff is pretty sturdy

TROLL 01-05-2009 10:44 PM

Its wood and its pretty new... seems like a relatively soft wood though. Leaving the thing hanging on the door isnt a big deal cause it only weighs a couple pounds, but when you hang a person from it thats when it puts stress on the frame. I think its fine but I was kind of planning on having it not leave any signs at all of being there.
Maybe I should do a video tour of it now, and then again in a few months. 6 pullups vs 26... haha.

R_Rambo 01-05-2009 10:53 PM

yea we just got new trim for all the doors in our 1st floor. ripping the old stuff down was so easy it was very dry-rotted and i could crack the trim pushing my thumb into it so i deff wouldnt of put that pull up item on it. but the new stuff we got is pretty cheesy IMO its made from balsa or pine which i wasnt a fan of i think im gonna return that stuff and make my own trim from walnut

lownslow95 01-06-2009 09:08 AM

I'm hungry. I'm thinking on going to BK for breakfast this morning.
