hey at least you don't have to disassemble the sway bar end links and body mounts every couple thousand miles to grease them, ****ing whiteline

Morning all. It's Thursday. One day closer to the weekend. The mustang goes on the dyno today assuming if everything goes right.

jpalamar 04-12-2012 10:11 AM

Can't wait for the nice weather this weekend.

Zaior 04-12-2012 10:18 AM

I will be picking up my car from the dyno maybe? It's getting on the dyno today and we will see if any problems occur.

piku 04-12-2012 01:24 PM

Mine broke the other day. Intake fell off. The MAF was still partially on there so it kind of ran but had no power at all. It was probably running lean as hell and destroying my motor for fun since it was on the intake side of the supercharger.

We'll start with built block and work from there. I might do a frankenmotor. M50 block with S52 crank = 2.9L and a head gasket that can actually handle the HP.

HickRocket1258 04-12-2012 01:46 PM

Mark that's what I'm getting prepared for just in case. I will just build another block if anything goes wrong with my car.

i think you should build a big block ford... just in case

jpalamar 04-12-2012 01:53 PM

LS motor swap. It just works.

piku 04-12-2012 01:55 PM

LS swap works well in an M3. but it just seems sacrilegious to me. I would rather screw around with turbos.

I talked to my machine shop today about that, I think I might go o-ring, might also sleeve it and punch that out, we'll see

Typical Euro owner... not wanting a reliable car :-)

well if he gets an ls then he has to supercharge that as well, and I don't think the supercharger will fit under the hood.

piku 04-12-2012 02:40 PM

I'm not disappointed with the supercharger but you really have to lay into the revs to get the power.

should have just gone turbo at that point

jpalamar 04-12-2012 03:26 PM

Found out I can download Duke Nukem 3D on Andriod. It is a PITA on the phone but man it brings back good memories.

grimm 04-12-2012 03:43 PM

I thought the S52 and M50 had the same blocks, just different heads?

Oh an LS swap is cool, but forced induction is a bitch to do as you have to do remote. At that point, better off building the S52, slap a bit turbo on there and roll around with 600whp+.

Antonio 04-12-2012 04:39 PM

passed a test for the next level of training at my job.....nice little 5% raise. Going to be working with large corporations and businesses with large bandwidth and phone needs over dedicated fiber from Comcast.

Similar but different bore size. The M50 block has smaller bore. Mated to the S52 crank it = 2.9L instead of 3.2L. The result is more material between cylinders. Given what they're doing with the S54 though at HPF (800+HP) somewhat reliably I'm guessing I could get everything I'd ever want out of an S52 block and then at least I could run my current SC tune on lower compression pistons for now.

And I agree the LS* only makes sense unmodified. If you want to get big power out, it's easier and cheaper and in all likelihood more reliable to get it from the BMW components.

russiankid 04-12-2012 05:22 PM

Either way you go I think with your power goals an M50 or an S52 would have no problems. However, I know Jon has an M50 that is a 2.8L stroker putting up 685 wheel soooo...yeah.

Yeah my goal is to hit 650HP and detune it down to 450-500HP to try to get 100,000 miles out of it.

russiankid 04-12-2012 06:27 PM

I want to turbo my truck just because it sounds so awesome.

I'm going.

Haven't gone since like 2009. Was turned off by the giant cluster **** it was and the fact my friends son almost got hit by ricer in the parking lot. I have high hopes for it this year though since the location is good.

Problem with me is that it's over an hour away an then I have to drive back to school 3 hours so that will make an overall 4+ hr drive.

grimm 04-13-2012 11:32 AM

i hope to make it if i'm not stuck in vegas still.

piku 04-13-2012 05:23 PM

Antonio 04-15-2012 11:18 AM

The previous owner had some weird stuff/work done to my z06 and just realizing the depths of it. Yesterday I was taking apart my trunk interior and some side panels to fix my gas door actuator. Got it fixed, but while there decided to investigate. I knew the previous owner had a system in the trunk, and just took it all back out before trading it in, but left all the wiring.

So turns out in the bottom of my trunk cavity in the center was a small 1/16'' hole that was letting in moisture. Covered that up. Removed the Sub/Amp lead and power wire that went all the way thru the firewall. They didn't even tuck it completely behind all the panels. Some panels were angled and not pressed in all the way to allow room for the cable to pass thru. While taking it all apart to pull the wire out, noticed just how badly scratched and cracked along the edges some panels are...

Well, needless to say I ripped out what I could for now, and buttoned her up properly and magically a lot of rattles, buzzes, and vibrations are now gone from the trunk. Ugh.....

Also found where they mounted the amp kind of messed up the carpet behind my Drivers seat. They also spliced into a factory harness in the trunk to, I believe, went to a factory CD Changer but the CD changer isn't there...

Sigh.....I guess it's good to rip that **** out, but it's just frustrating to see people cut so many corners on an "expensive" car.

jesse096 04-15-2012 09:43 PM

Yeah Vettes aren't exactly cheap... that sucks!

-Jesse

HickRocket1258 04-16-2012 09:10 AM

Well. The guy said that he got backed up with stuff, so my car should be hitting the dyno early this week and hopefully there's no issues. Will have to pick it up at some point and maybe have to take Friday off which I don't want to have to do that.

Yes they are. They just look expensive.

HickRocket1258 04-16-2012 10:26 AM

I'm looking forward to checking your Vette out in person. Sounds pretty nice.
