3000GT VR4? Although, reliability isn't really a strong point.... LOL

Sorry, I got nothing else to offer. :)

I've considered it a few months back, but I knew a girl who blew hers up twice (spun rod bearings) on a basically stock car! Plus theyre a little on the heavy side. Great looking cars though.

Schepis is right on the 300ZX TT. It's one of the more reliable cars cars that is capable of nice power. They're a tad bit under rated IMO, I had mine with basic mods- Nismo 555s, Tune, Downpipes, exhaust, FMIC, dual intakes, running on E85 on stock turbos and made over 400RWTQ and 349RWHP. It's a heavier car and the 4 wheel steering is a pain in the ass but they run to 200,000 miles regularly and the drivetrain gives you a good notice before any blows typically. They're a bitch to swap turbos, downpipes, EGR delete, injector replacement- but- they're extremely easy to change plugs/coilpacks/oil/clutch/starter/shifter/belts.

Another good car for under 10,000 would be an SRT4 but I see you are planning on ditching it.

Anyhow, besides the 300ZX a excellent (better IMO) buy is a higher mileage C5 Corvette from 1997-2000 they are going for about 8-11k. I've got my sights on one right now for $7,800- I couldn't tell you too much about them since I haven't picked it up yet but from my test drive and other owners they're pretty much awesome. The older ones had leaky batteries but you can make sure that the wires are good by removing it and checking for corrosion. Most are already upgraded to gelpaks so you won't need to worry about that. Other than that they don't really have too many serious issues... other than a gay shift knob. :-)

Thanks for the info! I promised myself I would get a Z06 if I ever got a vette, but for that price, it sounds really enticing.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Audis.... may be cheap to buy but will cost you an arm and a leg to maintain. No joke...
BMW.... im assuming same thing at least in terms of M3 and how much those have been beat on by punk ass kids... id suggest an older one like E30 and buy it from an old guy. I personally like that body style.
RX-8... ive heard nothing but horror stories with these. Rotary is the devil...
2.5RS- Best choice out there IMO.... AWD, reliable, decent on gas. I've wanted one for a while but i cant bring myself to own 3 cars again.
DSM- This is kinda a tricky one.... We've all seen and heard of hack-job dsms but... there are some quality ones out there. I recently saw a stock talon with 66k original, clean as hell sell for 7k on ebay. And then there's galant vr4.. what can i say... i love it.
Mr2- I haven't heard too much other than some punkass kids buying these and beating the piss outta them as well.
Basically, whatever u do, u gotta find a car which some kid hasn't owned. I saw that and im 22... but I love my galant vr4 and my spec v is my daily.

I'll trade you my spec v for ur srt :-p Not the galant though

No thanks on the specV. The problem with the negative things about the RX-8 is that non-RX8 owners are chiming in. I wish some owners would say something.

jesus_ralliart 02-05-2010 02:56 PM

I think the reason for that is because nobody wants to deal with the devil....

b-rad 02-05-2010 03:07 PM

Well... I don't post much at all... But I creep alot and was ready to buy a rx8 last year and did alot of reading and test driving and this is wha I found out.....

1. Do not start them up cold and shut them off... You may dodge the bullit once but eventually it will get you and it will flood. If you absolutly have to.. Rev to like 3-4k for a little bit to burn the fuel then keep your fingers crossed

2. A redline a day keeps the carbon away... Wind it all the way out on a daily basis, your rotary will last much longer if you do.

3. On the 04s an I think 05s have coil problems.. If you buy that early keep a eye on them

4. The car will do whatever you want it to do... Throw it into a turn, slide it around... The car will happily agree with whatever you tell it to do, the chasis is awesome.

5. The car is not fast and will never be. Sure it's got some pep to it's step but mess with any car that has a little money into it and there is no turns in front of you... You will loose. From the looks of your srt... You are not going to mod it to much anyway.

6. Be ready to go from 6th to 3rd to pass someone on the highway. While some people may think of this as a bad thing, it makes the rx8 a drivers car. You are going to have to shift alot, which = lots of heal toe or redlines = lots of fun in my book to drive around daily

7. The motor does burn oil by design. It's ment to do it, and from what I read it's a Lil less than a quart ever 3-4 fillups.

Ok long enough post for a iPhone. All in all it's a super fun car, that gets 4x4 truck gass millage, that my 240lb brother can fit in the back seat of comfortably. You deff can take it to a track day and it will behave well all day, and you won't have to worry about sliding off in your supra. I still love them but could not buy another underpowered car

hope this helps and I appologize for the grammer. I'm on a phone and I was raised by spellcheck, and we all know the interwebz is serious buisness

ok long enough post for a iPhone. All in all if

they spin bearings mostly due to dented oil pans (jacking it up by the oil pan). They're not much heavier than a supra TT

I have an extremely biased opinion though. LOL

b-rad, those things are exactly what I've learned. The car has some quirks, but I should be able to take care of it.

However, I'm currently talking to a guy with a 93 MR2T... crossing my fingers
