All,

We are doing one of the final preruns for this event on Saturday.

It looks like it is going to be a crab run after all! I went to the new location with a group of friends a few weeks back and it was awesome. They do individual checks and we can order off the menu.. http://www.wellwoodclub.com/index.html

So what has changed??

Our meal will be lunch instead of dinner. It will be a very relaxed, take your time kind of vibe. We will go from Wellwood down to Chesapeake City for an ice cream stop and to walk off lunch then back in the cars one last time for a few more back roads and then we will head home..

I am VERY excited about these changes and know those of you that can make it will have a great time!

More information to follow!

All:

Registration opens up July 20th! I do not know what time yet.
I will update the thread with all the information required and how to register!

There is room for 20 registered cars.

Help needed! ............ I need one volunteer to be in the "sweeper" position who can call out that everyone has made their turns over a two way radio. This person would ideally have a passenger that could follow the easy directions. Please PM me to secure an advance spot if you are willing to help out and have a motorola two way radio.

Finally: A two way radio is highly recommended on these runs. These can be picked up at Best Buy or Circuit City etc. Some reasons below..
1. If there are holes or other issues with the road, I can warn you and save you a rim.
2. If there is a tight squeeze on one of our roads, I can warn you and save you a side swipe.
3. If there are walkers or kids on bikes etc, I can warn you.
4. I will continue to put together runs and so this will continue to be used.

Craig, is this like an all out sprint to the destination or is it relaxed?

i want to go and/or volunteer to help out but im not the kind of guy who floors it everywhere. i dont mind a bit of speeding but doing it for hours on end is not my thing.

The crab run is traditionally a slower paced cruise just to take in the scenery.

CHAOS 07-15-2008 09:13 AM

nice... im down to help out.

For the record..

This IS NOT a race but will have "spirited moments" These will not be frequent and is nothing to fear. At most it will be a controlled peppy zip down a road or two.

Do you have a two way radio? If you do and you would like to be the sweeper and are sure you can make it.. I will add you right now as the sweeper and a participant. If you have any questions on what this will require, drop me a PM and I will be happy to answer any questions.

CHAOS 07-15-2008 09:22 AM

Yes i have a 2 way... are you doing any more "test runs" of this before the event? if im sweeping id like to check it out first.

And what kind of food does that place serve? lol i hate seafood but i think this would be a gorgeous scenic drive.

edit: i know this may have been better as a PM but i was a "bad boy" lol.. so i cant use PM's

No worries.. yep we are doing one the first weekend in August.
You are welcome to join but will spoil your fun seeing it all in advance.
Sweepeing does not require advance knowledge.. its really just saying we all made it through the turn. I keep it really slow until everyone is on each road then speed up a little once we are all going the same place.

Also, I use the buddy system which means everyone is responsible for the car behind them. This means everyone should be aware of the car behind them and make sure they see you turn even if that means slowing down.
I will be explaining this all in greater detail at the drivers meeting.

I think this one will be about my 20th run I have put together for various clubs etc.
