Just be careful throwing too much boost at the FSDE, its not the strongest motor Mazda built.

At this point i'm just shooting to get the car re assembled. Boost will come very soon as a manifold is basically all I need yet since the car was boosted before as a V6 and ive still got everything. but i'll be conservative at first unlike how i was with the old engines.... |
Glad to see it coming along. Cant wait for more pics.

awsome i thought ya sold this badboy? i really like the probes and yours was/is the sickest ive every seen i have been thinking of grabbing the old style factory turboed gt's in white how does those compare to this body style? besides this generation looking 100000x better. im looking forward to updates on this i saw a gts the other day in red and made me think of yours i love it

sometimes pictures tell a story better than words: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02699.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02701.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02702.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02704.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02708.jpg |
I had the day free for the most part yesterday...
I got everything i needed swapped over and the new engine installed. at about 3 am i started the car for the first time since october 2007. now I've just got a lot of other work to do to get the car into road worthy condition. |
copied from my probetalk post;
April 2009, Change of plans. It's been a long road with this car, and the introduction of a corvette to my life sparked a part out of everything that I had to build the car. The shell sat sadly in a corner of my garage, and as spring car events started happening I got sick of people asking about the car. Apparently, That's how every one remembers me. So, I sourced a parts car. And alas, a questionable, very uncommon swap began. While I have a long way to go, last night at about 3 am. The car started under it's own power for the first time since october 2007. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3393/...2e4430.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3565/...c2e57b.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3327/...118db4.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3646/...6bf48b.jpg?v=0 The engine will be neat and organized to match the fresh painted bay before the car sees the road. I've also got a ton of small things to do to bring the car back to it's previous level of awesomeness. but here she is.... VIDEO; 97' GTS FSDE 2.0 The car will see the road in a naturally aspirated fashion for a short time. But, don't worry that familiar front mount will return soon enough. Updates will be fast this time around. I'm anxious to drive this again. later- Jason |
very nice build so far...not much of a probe fan but this defentially converted me...very clean and done right
|
Thats awesome Jason! Hard to get away from a car you just love like you love probes huh? I had the same dilemma with the 240 lol
|
|
what kind of loser puts a 4 cylinder in a v6 probe. haha nice progress.
|
how much boost you gonna run?
|
pizzo stfu. and come back from florida so you can help.
jon, i haven't researched the FS much yet, but you know me. i'll push the stock "limits" |
almost...
For the first time in forever, the car looks like a car again. The pieces are loosely placed on there to make the one mile trip to my house for paint tomorrow. I've got a lotttt of odds and ends to tidy up, but the weather looks amazing for the weekend so i've opted to get the paint done since the car does run and drive. i've got a major oil leak to investigate, a terrible idle, and extremely poor throttle response. once i've got those bugs worked out, she's almost ready for the road. I'm undecided as to whether or not the gts stripes will come back at this point. and the front bumper is begging for the front mount to return. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3587/...14263caf85.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2475/...aaa038ce21.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2457/...19e47a0053.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3392/...a51daa47ba.jpg |
What made you run the 4 cylinder instead of the KL?
|
quite honestly.... i had a complete parts car.
so i figured why not try something a bit different. i've been toying with kl's for five years now and turbo kls are become more and more common, and surprisingly turbo fs cars are more unique in the probe scene. |
FRESH PAINT!!!!!!!!!!1
it's been an extremely long process for my GTS, but Now that it runs (sort of) I drove it to my house from my shop last weekend to finish off the paint job. The color is Rio Red, just as it came off the line in 1997 only this time I don't think it'll turn to pink like in the past. These pics are just after assembly, I still need to do a lot of wet sanding and buffing as well as a few touch ups. We painted the car in my personal garage and some pieces outside so its not perfect...but we've painted this way a hundred times before and after some sanding and buffing it always looks great. So, here she is freshly painted: The GTS striping and badges will return once all of the finish work is complete on the paint a few higher resolution pics can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fazda/ http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02822.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02823.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02824.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02826.jpg In Progress: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02814.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02813.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/DSC02815.jpg I've been rushing myself to get this car back on the road so I'm a bit disappointed in the turnout of the project, but it looks decent and it's shiny. The car won't be more than a daily driver to me anymore, so the body will be abused anyway. Now, If only I could get her to run right. My lack of FS knowledge and spare parts is killing me on this one. |
Wow looking great!
|
Looks awesome. No cage this time around?
|
no cage..
It's going to be a daily driver now, i'm actually installing rear seats again too... i love that the car is coming together but it's sad that its no longer what it once was. |
