I've heard good things about the Kumho Escsta MX and General Exclaim UHP, and they may be in your price range.

I love my kumho AST's. If your looking for a step up from generic tires such as general or fuzion, you can't beat them for nearly the same price. I'd give them a 9 on dry, 6.5 on wet, and idk about snow yet as every snow storm we've had so far this year was a joke.

Motorvated, IM me and I'll give you the run down of the hot autocross tires

bl@ckvr4 01-13-2009 07:16 PM

It's pretty damn nice out. Everyone better come out tonight.

Ciotti 01-13-2009 07:34 PM

Fu(k it, I'll do it here...

Actually now that I look, they only make one of the really good autocross tires in that size and it's the Falken 615. They're fine in the rain, definitely get them.

ciotti, what's the best all-around all-season tire?

i need new rears soon

Ciotti 01-13-2009 07:52 PM

Toyo Proxes 4's hands down

Here's my take on those tires:

Pros-
A 300 rated treadwear that will give you a break in between buying tires. A good rain tire for the winter.

Cons-
Sloppy handling, I mean sloppy! Horrible cornering, I broke traction in my car with spirited driving on the twisties, not an assured feeling of grip. Tires chirp like a little girl too easily on agressive accel. Driving in cold weather, they handle more like forklift grade solids on the road.
